Vehicle description
Mercedes-Benz S-Class AMG. Here is a low mileage California S55 AMG. About 110,200 miles. 497 Horsepower. It looks black but it is a very dark gray. Mercedes called it "anthracite". If it is sunny and it is next to a black car, the difference is clear. I am the second or third owner. I"ve had it for the past eleven years. The previous owner was a real estate agent in the Bay Area. I"ve taken care of it and it has taken care of me. All original, except for the wheels. The original Mercedes wheels were chrome and they had a corrosion problem. I tried a thousand dollar treatment process but it was only good for three years. A slow air leak came back. Three years ago I got alloy wheels from Discount Tire. They do have the Mercedes logo in the center of each one. Who would know. New battery. The cooling and heating through the seats didn"t work when I got the car and I"ve never gotten that fixed. Never missed it. The regular heat and air conditioning work fine, including distribution to the backseat. The knob to adjust the instrument cluster illumination is broken. The illumination is working but it cannot be adjusted dimmer. Opening the trunk from the inside does not alway work. You can unlock the trunk it but it does not automatically pop open. Outside, at the trunk, you can press one button for it to open and another for it to close. They work. There are sun screens on the rear side windows that can be pulled into place and latched. The driver can activate a screen that goes over the back, rear window. The ride is very quiet and comfortable. The shifter has a selector for "Comfort" or "Sport". I"ve alway driven in "Comfort". There are also buttons to shift up or down. I"ve never used them, either. There is a spot, about one foot square, on the truck lid where the clear-coat shows a bubble look but the body paint is still good. The leather seats, front and rear, are in very good condition. So is the wood trim on the dashboard and doors. No cracks. No rust. No dents. This car is basically an "S550" but was modified in the factory to become a Mercedes-AMG. The AMG nomenclature drops the last digit and the AMG model name becomes "S55".
AMG® is short for Aufecht, Melcher, and Großaspach, the division of Mercedes-Benz that produces high performance vehicles. Named after some of the most important engineers in the company’s history, this division creates vehicles with advanced engines, aerodynamic bodies, and high-speed capabilities. Most of the vehicles it produces are similar to standard Mercedes-Benz models, but have higher capabilities. The AMG engines are handcrafted and one worker builds each engine. Their signature, their written name, is inscribed on the top of each engine they build. This car"s builder"s signature is shown on the next to last photo.
