Vehicle description
This car has been in my family since we bought it at Mike Bass Ford/Mazda in Sheffield, Ohio. It is the Mazda 3, in a color somewhere between Teal and Aqua, one of the coolest color cars of all time. This car has the BIG engine of the two that were offered, the 2.3L 4-cylinder, which is a WONDERFUL motor. Coupled with an easy, smooth 5-speed Manual Transmission, a fun car to drive.
Fortunately, for the first about nine years of this car"s life, my wife drove it - and she drives VERY GENTLY. Also fortunately, she had a great relationship with the Mike Bass Mazda service department, had all of her maintenance done there, as suggested by the dealer service department, and kept the car in tip-top shape.
After Mom was done with it, my older son has been driving it. Mostly long trips to college (middle of Pennsylvania) and back. Son does not baby the car, but isn"t beating it up, either.
This car is OLD. And rust is taking its toll on the body panels, around the wheel wells, which you can see from the photos. And every car as it gets older needs work. We"ve taken it to a closer, non-Dealer repair shop for many repairs. We"ve had the air-conditioning compressor, for example, replaced. The car has gotten new tires whenever it needed them, and good tires- not the cheapy garbage a lot of people put on their cars.
There are some "issues". Sometimes the driver window will get stuck, in the hot summer. Solution is to never roll it all the way up in the summer, leave a crack. The passenger door automatic lock is not reliably locking. The CD player had a CD stuck in it and was malfunctioning. We took it out, removed the CD (had to break it) and cut the wires that should have disabled the little motors that load the CD. That didn"t work, so when you turn on the car, the CD player tries to load a CD (the CD player WILL NOT WORK). Radio works great. There"s a jack to put your phone"s headphone audio into the car, and that works nice.
All this said, what an amazing car this has been. We"ve gotten every penny"s worth, and someone willing to do repairs who needs transportation ought to be VERY HAPPY with this car. Especially at this price. You will see in the pictures that I am undercutting the blue book price by a big margin. I have a four car driveway with six cars. PLEASE help me free up some space.
Not messing around with payment - cash will walk away with a car, cashier"s check must clear my bank first.
