With the introduction of Spyder at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2001 new era started for Maserati. This time an era of close collaboration with group partner Ferrari. Under the hood sits normally aspirated 4.2 V8 with a dry sump lubrication system. Also the transmission was totally new. The gearbox was moved to the rear end of the car where it forms a single unit with the differential(transaxle). Engine is rated at 390 hp. Transmission is Cambiocorsa , automated manual transmission that uses Formula 1 type gearbox with paddles behind the steering wheel. The Spyder"s striking shape is the work of ItalDesign Giugiaro. This car is blast to drive . Engine sounds amazing ,transmission shifts very good. Suspension and brakes are tight.
