Vehicle description
I am relisting this as I have lost contact with the buyer from last week. He was overseas so may have found that shipping to the Persian Gulf was going to be more then bargained for? Regardless, I am relisting as I need to have the car gone before we move since I will not have anywhere to park it!Before reading through all of the insane options Listed below on this Exige please note that the engine block currently has scoring in 1 cylinder and will need to be sleeved or replaced. On a good note the Exige uses the Toyota 1.8 liter 2ZZ platform which is not only affordable to work on but parts are also readily available. I found that monkeywrenchracing.com have sleeved blocks for under $1200 !
My wife and I bought this car wrecked back in 2008 with under 2600 miles (it had a salvage title, it is now a rebuilt title) to be not only a fun and exciting street car that she could drive occasionally on weekends or to cars and coffee events but also to do some track day events in. I think she did maybe a half dozen track day driver education events and the rest of the miles are street driven miles. The ownership change showing in 2015 was when she simply titled the car from her business name to her personal name.
As far as the rebuild, we went with: Reverie wide body rear clamshell kit oversized carbon fiber side air intakes Reverie Mohawk jumbo carbon fiber roof scoop carbon fiber naca ducts in rear clam APR carbon fiber canards carbon fiber front lip 5 element carbon fiber diffuser carbon fiber wing carbon fiber side skirts blacked out lights shaved side markers lexan windshield newer style (2007 and up) 1 piece headlights SJ Leggerro lightweight wheels (rears have been professionally widened to take a 285) black OEM center caps and badging and finished the car off in the custom shade green with black top section. There are some misc rock chips, mainly at the front edge of the rear flares so I will include a gallon of the custom green for you.
On the inside we did: Reverie carbon fiber seats with suede pads Personal alcantara suede steering wheel with a Works Bell quick release hub Alpine CD player with JL speakers, JL sub in quick removal JL stealth sub box, and an MB Quartz amp suede dash with green stitching carbon center console custom billet shift knob that has black mini lotus badge embedded in it suede shift boot 3 pod center stack gauge pod with Shift Pro green gauges Schroth safety harnesses ( stock seat belts still installed for you too!) Sector 111 harness bar custom fit WeatherTech style rubber mats and probably more I’m forgetting.
In 2015 at just over 8600 miles we decided to opt for more power and added the following: Mahle 9.0:1 low compression pistons Crower rods Fujitsu cold air intake 750cc injectors Wahlbro fuel pump C&R custom radiator Solid front and rear motor mounts Moroso oil pan Circuit Worx oil pump gears Euro geared trans with LSD installed Arqray twin tip muffler, a decat and a header ACT clutch Lysholm 1.6 liter supercharger ( includes 3 various sized pulleys) An air to water intercooler setup for the supercharger. The ac and heating have been removed from the car except for the condenser which serves as the air cooler part of the air to water inter cooler.
To run all of this we installed an EFI Technologies stand-alone engine management system, with data logger, and an NGK wideband. I had done a lot of research on Lotustalk.com and found there is a TON of info on the EFI Technologies tuning platform for the Lotus. Lotustalk.com is an amazing forum with just gobs of good info and good people that are extremely knowledgeable and helpful so I highly suggest it. Let me know if you need the links to the EFI info.
So anyways after installing all of this I decided I was too excited and decided to give the car a drive before getting everything fine tuned with the EFI, and had some kind of issue in cylinder 2. I continued to limp it home and put it away for the winter. The following spring I took a new job and we relocated across the country. The new job has had had me going nonstop for over 5 years now and I’ve had no time to get the car going. Recently for safe keeping I did drain the gas tank, added 10 gallons of VP C10 and installed a new Wahlbro fuel pump. A compression test found 104 psi in one cylinder (the other 3 had 175psi) followed by a boroscope check that found the cylinder scarring.
Other then that the car has now sat in this condition for over 5 years. My wife got fed up with waiting and bought a Lamborghini, and now wants a Mclaren so I have decided to offer the Exige up for sale. It’s not doing me any good sitting, and who knows when I’ll have time to work on it. I would rather let someone else have the chance to enjoy it. Please let me know if you have any questions. I’ve included alot of photos below including a boroscope photo of the damaged cylinder, a photo showing the rear of the car once the subframe was replaced back in 2008 when the car was rebuilt (note the pic is before the rear wheels were widened), and also a photo showing the front end when the clamshell off.You can view the Exige here is San Antonio Tx. I can remove the front lip and the diffuser before transport to help ground clearance. Requires immediate $500 non refundable deposit and the remainder can be done within 7 days via bank wire transfer.
