Vehicle description
For sale is a beautiful example of the British iconic Land Rover Defender 90.
It was imported from the UK back in 2017 and since then has been kept garaged and used only occasionally and not at all during the winter. It"s registered in Ontario and has already had all required modifications done for Canada so it"s all ready for the next owner to plate.
It"s in good working order, this isn"t a project, its all ready to go.
It comes with it"s original 300 TDI diesel engine, which runs perfectly and has never given me any issues at all. It easily gives around 30mpg without having to drive too carefully and has a really satisfying deep diesel growl! The 300 TDI is known for being reliable due to it"s simple design, which apparently makes it easy to work on as well (look it up on Google for more information). Parts are also easy to come by online but usually need to be shipped from from the UK.
It"s got four of the classic side facing seats in the back, along with three forward facing seats in the front totalling seven seats. The seats in the back aren"t huge but they"re great for the kids and fine for adults on short trips. The side facing seats really add to the character of the vehicle and give a truly unique experience which you can"t fail to love. They are also quite practical as there"s plenty of space between them for luggage or camping equipment if you decide to take it away for a weekend!
It"s got a stick shift gearbox, equipped with a diff-lock and two gearing ranges. Its got roof bars already fitted as well as a tow bar.
It"s just turning 25 years old which makes it very easy to import into the US as most of the regulations don"t apply to vehicles after this age. This is the youngest you can get a Defender in America.
The best bits:
The character and unique feel of this vehicle cannot be overstated, nor can it"s ability to turn heads and get people asking questions about it. Driving it around town, you absolutely stand out, and feel like a rock star. Driving it gives you a totally different feel to any other vehicle. Its also still quite practical being reliable and economical - in summary: fun, but not expensive to run! Chassis is good and solid, some rust showing as you"d expect considering it"s age, but it"s mainly just on the surface and not going to cause an issue with a bit of care (see photos). Paintwork is really good -a picture paints a thousand words so see photos. Big pile of service history and past receipts . Again, its in good working order - this is not a project vehicle. The import is complete, no modifications or hurdles for you to get through, its all ready to go.
The worst bits:
The classic design mainly dates back to the original 1948 Land Rover so its missing many of luxuries you"d expect in a modern car. Although it was made in 1995, the spec is more what you"d expect in a 1965 vehicle! This means no A/C, ABS, air bags, central locking etc - although it does come with a basic stereo! Basically I"d say it"s probably not what you want for a main vehicle if you plan to do many long journeys! The interior in some places shows it"s age, note the stitching coming away on the drivers seat for example, but nothing needs doing - it could just look nicer with a little attention.
I"ve tried to be as honest as I can with the listing, I hope you"ll love, and have as much fun with this vehicle as much as I have. If you"ve got any questions, I"m not a mechanic but I"d be happy answer them as best as I can, please just drop me a message.
Viewing is available, contact me to arrange a time. Vehicle is located in Brantford, Ontario.
I"m happy to help with arranging transportation to the USA or Canada at the buyers expense after the auction is complete.
This vehicle is listed elsewhere so I reserve the right to remove the listing early. Also willing to consider reasonable offers.
No reserve, so happy bidding! Grab yourself a Land Rover Defender!
