“Used Jeep w/ low (for the year) miles. Car has current valid Virginia DOT Safety Inspection (pictured). The car is old enough to skip the inspection, however; I make sure it is compliant every year as a badge of honor (brakes, lights, suspension, tires etc...) I have replaced the original AMC seat belts as they were becoming non-functional. Several years ago we cut out the lower body rust which these tend to acquire. I replaced the rockers panels with correct gauge metal and welded in place. Repainted up to the roof rails and replace the 3M "wood" on the sides. I have pictures documenting the restoration.Interior is good condition. Some wear noted on drivers seat (pictured). Shag carpet in good condition as well. Please ask questions if needed.Power seats work. Front seat and tailgate power windows work. Back seat windows "occasionally" work - be sure you want them down b/c they are SLOW. Cruise control, power door locks and AC not functional at this time.” |

Vehicle description
For sale is my 1986 Grand Wagoneer. I purchased her on e-bay (circle of life, huh?) about 9 years ago. During my decade of ownership I replaced the cosmetic exterior wear. There was some lower rocker panel rust (common to these) which I cut out and welded in the correct gauge steel (pictures of the restoration available). We replaced the 3M "wood" at that time. She was re-pained 5 years ago up to the roof. See pictures for details of the finish from last week when it rained.
I am selling the car due to a forthcoming military obligation. As such all transactions ABSOLUTELY must be complete by the end of October. I can assist in facilitating the shipping or pickup. You can come to Virginia (local airport of Roanoke ROA) and drive her home or I will meet your auto transport.
Radio and speakers are not original (they are better).
I have replaced the traditional distributer with a direct injection setup (see engine picture - the big red thing behind the radiator). I have maintained her road worthiness over the years as needed by replaced tires (10,000 miles ago), alternator, carb rebuild, battery and anything safety related (seatbelts, lights and brakes).
I usually driver her to the local lake - hence the kayak and board pictures on the roof. I am including the THULE roof rack, if you would like. People love this car everyplace I go. She really cleans up nice. Car is a joy to drive.
Car has 5.9L pushrod V8 w/ 2BBL carb. The transmission is a torqueflite (MOPAR) 3 speed automatic with true 4x4. The fuel and ignition system is Motorcraft (FORD) and the steering from the wheel to the front end parts are GM. When you get parts from AutoZone (or other) they are amazed at how common parts are b/c AMC was barely keeping the lights on back in 1986 and were sourcing parts from the Detroit Big-3.
So, feel free to ask me any questions about the car. I have her for sale locally (you know how people are, they tell you for years how much they want to buy your classic car then suddenly its "not the right time" when you go to sell. Anyhow, I reserve the right to end the auction early if someone local meets my reserve price.
I will be checking my e-mail messages from daily, however; please forgive me if it takes a day for my response d/t other obligations - things are crazy here right now. Odometer read 102,062 when listed - but I am still driving to work everyday so it"ll be a bit higher.
Cheers and good luck.
