This is a nice, stock, well maintained 2.0L turbo A4 Quattro. I fixed and updated this car for my son to have a car when he visits me in Florida. He wanted my Lincoln MKZ instead, so this nicely preserved and serviced A4 is going on the block.
This car had the Takata Airbag recall performed by Audi of Sarasota recently. The value indicator from indicates that there is an open recall, and that is not true.
I bought this car because it needed work. Last year I lived in NY, but was moving to Florida. I bought this car to fix up for my son to use when he came to visit me in Florida, but in the end, he wanted to use the Lincoln MKZ. Over the last year, I worked on this and fixed or replaced everything, so this car is in top shape. I drove it to Florida last June, and continued to refine it. So since my son wants the Lincoln, the Audi is up for sale, because I simply have too many cars here now. I drive this to work one or two days a week to keep it running great.
This is a really nice car for student, because even though it is stock, it has a few sporty items, and it is reliable. Here is a list of most of the things that have been done to make or keep this car in top shape:
Engine bay:
- Timing belt replaced by previous owner at 90,000 mile. - A new K03 turbo turbo installed. This is the primary reason this car was for sale in the first place. I replaced the turbo with a NEW stock unit, not remanufacture. - New exhaust down-pipe. The old one rotted out - Replaced the thermostat (and housing) with an OEM component - Replaced the engine temperature sensor (OEM) - New spark plugs and coils. This is a problem for these cars. I also replaced the coil wiring end plugs by soldering new ones on. This car hasn"t misfired in the last year. - Replaced the plenum air control valve (OEM) on the intake manifold - Replaced one of the fuel injectors - Installed a new, and validated intake manifold. The original ones crack and leak oil into the turbo, causing intercooler problems, fuel economy issues and big oil loss - New DieHard battery 3/2018 - NEW OEM Air Conditioning compressor 2/2019 - New silicone Intercooler hoses. Better than original - Updated the turbocharger blow-by valve with a performance component from GFB Engineering. Snappier turbo response - Audi of Sarasota completed the Takata Airbag recall late last year
Repaired other small switches and sensor issues. I have the factory Audi diagnostic software so I was able to narrow down any and all defects, no matter how small.
Interior:
- Replaced the driver side window regulator cable assembly - Replaced several power window switches - New headlight selector switch - Replaced several other instrument pushbuttons and replaced other button decals, so the instrumentation looks, and works perfectly - Repaired/reinforced the (problematic) glove box door. It now works perfectly, including the damper, and won"t break again - Replaced the center armrest lid latch (problematic) with an aftermarket superior designed latch. Works perfectly for over a year now. A second spare is included. - Reworked and covered all the interior aluminum belt and center console trim and covered it with carbon fiber look covering for a really cool, sporty look - New OEM-like floor mats in black to compliment the carbon fiber accents - Added an after market interface to the Symphony II radio which enables the steering wheel controls to operate your iPhone or Android. Currently has the iPhone cable on it - Added a small vacuum/boost gauge on the left side dash, with a 3D printed pod that blends into the side window vent register (see pix) - Left Daniel"s sunglasses in the passenger under-seat drawer for posterity sake
Exterior:
- The paint is in nice shape. There is a spot on the rear passenger side bumper area where someone glazed off the bumper in a parking lot. Still looks OK - New (at 131,000 mile) Micheline Pilot Sport 4s tires (rotated at 138,200). These are summer tires and should not be operated below 40 degrees F. A note from the manufacturer reads:
Note: Tires exposed to temperatures of 20 degrees F (-7 degrees C) or lower must be permitted to gradually return to temperatures of at least 40 degrees F (5 degrees C) for at least 24 hours before they are flexed in any manner, such as by adjusting inflation pressures, mounting them on wheels or using them to support, roll or drive a vehicle. Flexing of the specialized rubber compounds used in Max Performance Summer tires during cold-weather use can result in irreversible compound cracking. Compound cracking is not a warrantable condition because it occurs as the result of improper use or storage, tires exhibiting compound cracking must be replaced.
Again, this car is ready to go, and I drive it to work regularly to keep it running well, and the extra accents and little performance bits make it a cool car for a student, or just a cool commuter car.
