Vehicle description
Rare, 1987, Z code, (3.08 gear), 5 speed, 5.0, Mustang LX, notchback. This is the 5.0 Mustang to have! The "87 and up Z code, LX, notchback, was the ballsiest powertrain combined with the lightest, most rigid body style. This car was probably special ordered by a performance enthusiast in the know. Standard rear end was a 2.73, the 3.08 was a little known "no cost" option. This particular car came from Texas.
Car has 122K miles and has many new parts including shorty headers, H pipe exhaust, new clutch, I believe a Steeda short throw shifter, (still have original shifter), frame connectors, new radiator, water pump, and steering rack. Has BRAND NEW 16" tires, (still have the original 10 hole 15" wheels and go with the car). Just tuned up with OEM Ford parts. Paint is presentable but not show car quality, has some scratches. I have a red replacement for the cracked dash bezel. Some of the rubber window seals are cracked from the sun. Driver"s door needs new pins.
Car has has LOTS of power and shorty header/H-pipe/Flowmaster exhaust sounds very aggressive. Overall, car is solid and complete, but I have recently noticed mild to moderate rust at the bottom of the passenger strut tower, (see pics) which is very common on these cars, but wanted to be up front and disclose this to any prospective buyer. Car"s performance and integrity are unaffected.
This would be a perfect Fox Mustang to restore or just enjoy as is.
Please don"t hesitate to ask any questions.
Thanks and happy bidding!
