Vehicle description
Over 25 Years with the Same Family! Ford Fairlane 500 Hardtop (no post) in pretty solid condition. It is for the most part a blank slate ready for whatever you want to do. Here are the highlights: Solid 289 V8 Brand new Edelbrock AVS2 Carburetor Edelbrock RPM aluminum intake manifold low-mileage rebuilt Cruise-O-Matic C4 transmission (under 100 mi) Low-mileage Wilwood Disc Brakes (front only - manual brakes - under 100 mi) Cragar SS wheels Aluminum Radiator I bought this car back in 1997 with my parents help. It remains mostly unchanged with the exceptions of some upgrades and some limited restoration work. In the last 10 years it has been mostly in storage in Colorado, but still driven and started once a month. In last 3 years it has been in a professional auto storage facility. In2019 I had mild restoration work started by Reincarnation Autos in Colorado. They carried out the transmission rebuild, disc brake conversion, radiator replacement and other smaller maintenance (pictures and emails documenting the work are available). Work forced me to put the car back in storage and put the restoration on hold. I pulled the car back out of storage in January 2021 and started some light maintenance in order to drive it occasionally and restart the restoration. Work is again forcing me to put it back into storage or sell it. It starts up after a few turns and with the exceptions noted below it is a lot of fun (driven every week to 2 weeks). There are 90"s era speakers and an amp in the back deck. The stock radio is still there, but disconnected from both the back and stock dash speaker. The carpet isn"t special and has a tear on the driver side, but is still decent. Issues: Scratches and dents: it has them and it isn"t a show car. From 15+ ft away it looks great, but get closer and the flaws can ben seen. I"ve tried to catch the majority of the major flaws in the pictures, but I am not claiming to show them all. Clear coat is gone from the hood. Surface rust is most visible on the passenger side door. This is the only spot of this magnitude on the car. There are paint bubbles on the car and those are visible in the photos. The floorboards are good to my knowledge (you can see some in the pictures, where I"ve pulled back the carpet) and Reincarnation Autos was impressed by the overall state of the metal considering it hadn"t been restored. It does leak oil. This is one area the time in storage might have not been so kind as oil seems to leak around the distributer. It slowly puts a coat on the engine (can be seen in the photos), but oil level is relatively stable. Front bench seat needs to be reupholstered (clear in the photos). Since pulling the car from storage, the front tires will rub on sharp turns. The shocks will most likely need attention. Rear drum brakes will need to be serviced.
