Vehicle description

General Background
The car was built on February 10, 1970 in San Jose, CA, inventoried and sold by the famous Robert H. Loud dealership in Pasadena. I purchased the car in December 2003 from an owner in San Marcos, CA. I believe it had been in CA for its lifetime until my purchase brought it to Saint Louis. I initially had designs to race, but it never happened for me. The Ford Oval logo shadows on the rear quarters have always been of interest, though I never got around to refresh the exterior and see what lies beneath. It"s street legal, insured by Hagerty since 2003 and registered in Missouri with a clear title. The current paint is teal (originally medium avocado metallic). Body panels, sub-frame and floors are solid with no rot or major damage. The front and rear glass are in great shape. The front and rear bumpers are fiberglass. The fiberglass hood is four-pointed with Boss 429 style scoop. Front seats are Jegs Pro high back race seats with black and grey covers mounted on aluminum plate with double locking adjusters and five-point G-force racing harnesses.
As you can see, the interior is minimal. There is no carpet, heater, door or quarter glass, window mechanisms, door handles, panels or rear seat. It has a professionally installed eight-point roll cage and a Jegs aluminum dashboard for speedometer, oil pressure, volts, fuel, and temperature. A tachometer is mounted to the driver’s cage pillar. There is a four-switch box mounted on the transmission tunnel to control headlights, panel lights, electric fan, and wipers.
The exterior could use a refresh, however it is solid, again, no rot or major damage other than nicks, small dents, scratches and minor panel misalignment"s that can be seen in my high resolution photos. The original passenger side mirror is included, but not installed. There was some minor damage to the drivers floor area where brake fluid had been dripping from master cylinder. All lights and signals work, except reverse lights which have been removed and covered. About 7,776 miles since major overhaul of suspension and drive train.
Suspension and Drive Train
The front suspension was rebuilt with Moog parts. It has boxed lower control arms, gusseted upper control arms and a SMB-K quick ratio steering box. Steering is manual. Shocks are Koni front and rear. The car has been lowered approximately two inches all the way around. The manual brakes are a factory Ford disc/drum combination. It has Vintage Wheel Works, 16x 8 Vintage 48"s with Dunlop SP 5000 255/50 ZR 16"s in the rear and 245/50 ZR16"s in front.
The original nine-inch rear end has been rebuilt with a nodular case. It has a 28-spline Traction-Loc differential and Ford Motorsport 3.70 gears. The transmission is a close ratio, top loader four speed with a Hurst Street Super shifter and ceramic/organic dual friction diaphragm clutch. The factory clutch linkage had been gusseted for strength.
Engine and Exhaust
The engine is a 351 Cleveland. It is an original DOAE-J block that has been magna-fluxed and bored .030 oversize. The crankshaft is a 4MA high nodular content Boss 351 crank that has been micro-polished, magna-fluxed, and turned to .010/.010. The connecting rods are DOAE-A and have been magna-fluxed, shot-peened, resized with ARP rod bolts and fitted with TRW forged, flat top pistons yielding a 11.1:1 compression ratio.
The camshaft is a Crower P/N 15244, grind number 297HDP hydraulic, flat tappet, with a .578 lift / 297 duration intake, .578 lift / 308 duration exhaust with matching valve springs, hardened Crower retainers, hardened Crower push rods and Competition Cams anti-pump-up lifters. Timing chain and gears are Ford Motorsport dual roller chain and gear set.
The heads are Boss 351 service replacements with port polishing, ARP rocker studs and NOS Boss 302 push rod guide plates. Rocker arms are Crower stainless steel full roller rockers. Valve covers are original Boss 351.
The engine has an Eldebrock Torker single plane intake manifold with a Holley number 4780, 800 CFM double pumper carburetor with fourteen-inch K&N Extreme air flow top. Two and a quarter inch exhaust is routed through Hooker Super Competition full length headers with crossover pipe to Magnaflow turbo mufflers.
Ignition System
The ignition is all Multi Spark Discharge( MSD) with a Pro-Billit series distributor re-curved for the engines RPM range. Plug wires are MSD 8.5 mm Super Conductor wires with an MSD 6A controller box and Blaster 2 coil. New (8/21) Optima Red Top battery is mounted in a Moroso battery box in the trunk with new cables and Moroso heavy duty battery disconnect switch. It cranks with a Powermaster 4.4 gear reduction starter.
Cooling and Oil System
The cooling system consists of a FlowKooler aluminum water pump, custom Howe aluminum cross flow radiator, eighteen-inch Perma-Cool high performance electric fan and Moroso overflow catch can. Oil system includes a Melling high volume oil pump with hardened Ford Motorsport driveshaft and a Milodon nine-quart, deep sump oil pan with matching pickup.
Included Extras: Hood hinges, door handle assemblies (no internals), quarter glass trim, door rain channel trim, Monte Carlo bar, cage segments for driver/passenger, optional Crower valve spring retainers and cam card.
Things done in August 2021 - complete brake system flush and fill, oil change with nine quarts of Valvoline VR1 20W50, new Optima 25 RedTop battery, cooling system flush and fill, Holley carburetor rebuild.
