Vehicle description
This bug is one of if not the nicest examples of an early 60s car I"ve personally come across. Considering my long time obsession with vintage VW this says quite a lot. The car has been carefully restored/refreshed some years ago to factory spec with a few tastefully executed upgrades. No bondo repairs can be found on the car as she was tremendously solid prior to a professional partial respray in the factory Turkis paint to freshen it up. Much of the car is still sporting its original first spray where repainting was just not necessary. I don"t have the paperwork to confirm its stated mileage but given the condition of the car and its undercarriage I would not hesitate to consider its validity. The car is 100% rust free. I don"t know if this can be said for many out there but I assure you, there is ZERO rust on this one. Tasteful upgrades include LED lights that retain the original housing so people can actually see you braking in a classic car. 12 volt conversion with alternator so it starts and lights are bright. Starting this car is damn near comical with how quickly she fires right up. It WILL be something you will show off to your friends and folks in the parking lot on your evening cruise to dinner. Speaking of dinner, you may just decide stay home as the engine compartment is so clean you could eat off it. The interior is pretty much spotless and includes bamboo map shelf and world class Vintage Speed shifter. Any bug you buy should have one. Dash was never cut nor repaired and looks excellent with factory installed radio delete plate for that classic minimalist feel. Wheels are showroom condition chrome smoothies and caps, wrapped in nearly new true white wall tires for that period correct look through and through. Mechanically the car is an absolute joy to start, drive, handles exactly as it would new with tight steering and smooth direct gear changes. I have taken this car 100 miles on a cruise just a few weeks ago and she responded exactly as anyone would hope for, staying cool, and keeping up with the other classics in the lineup like a charm. Anyone looking for a nice stock early bug, oozing with happiness and nostalgia, is not going to pass this car up. They don"t show up like this too often and the cost to get one to this standard far outweighs the price she can be purchased for here in this auction. MA Title is clean clear and ready to go to the RMV with the next caretaker. Roof rack pictured is not for sale as its something that was gifted to me many many years ago. For the buy it now I can include another vintage rack with the car if you just have to have one for your vintage luggage :)
I will certainly look back at some point and probably kick myself for letting this one go but I"m still in the process of securing my "dream car" and can"t keep them all. It was sell this or my 65 Camper bus and the kids voted we keep the bus! Please let me know if you have any questions before you bid. With time being a factor to secure and make room for this other car, I would appreciate only serious bidders, and welcome serious offers prior to ending the auction.
As these things go, some key points to make and understand before bidding. Pick up here at my house in Barre MA is expected within 5 business days of end of auction. Shipping is responsibility of the buyer, but I will of course do anything I can on my end to help get that sorted. I’ve both shipped a car home and away so I’m happy to lend my experience onto whomever might not have before to make it go smoothly. I have all the paperwork, clear/clean title, ready for new owner to register in their name etc, all will be sent certified mail once funds are cleared.
In closing, my reputation on here means A LOT to me, and my enthusiasm for these cars and the people that enjoy them is my favorite part of this culture. If there is anything you would like to know or share regarding this incredibly well loved 61 Turkis Bug, I’d love to chat. Please feel free to consider my feedback, and or speak with anyone that has purchased a car from me in the past if you have any concerns. Thanks again for the interest and good luck with the bidding :) Cheers, Brando
