The Ford Shelby Cobra Roadster is often referred to as the most replicated cars in the world! With a strong pedigree with Carroll Shelby"s performance touches, shapely body lines, and tons of American power on . . reserve, these cars fill the dreams of many car enthusiasts as the one they want to be parked in their garage!
With this same genuine passion in mind, Backdraft Racing went to work creating an exact replica to meet a perfect aesthetic appeal as well as original factory dimensions of the original, and it immediately became one of the best available! These factory produced chassis" and one-piece glass reinforced bodies are built professionally with the best of quality materials in South Africa. Features include a TIG welded 2x4" steel ladder chassis that is 1/8" think with chrome roll bar welded to the frame, fully independent 4-wheel suspension, power 4-wheel ventilated disc brakes, steel & fiber mat reinforced body shell with 2-stage paint application including 3 layers of clear coat polished to an ultra-smooth finish, VDO gauges, locking fuel cap hidden underneath the racing quick-release cap, correct style billet aluminum pedals and tilted shift handle lever, along with 17" Halibrand style knock-off wheels just to name a few!
We are very proud to offer this Backdraft Racing Shelby Cobra Roadster finished in Indigo Blue with Silver stripes and Black Leather interior! Built just 8 years ago (2011) and used by only two owners since completion, this pampered example continues to look like new throughout! Under the hood of this snake lies a 408ci stroker small-block V8 built by Performance Engineering in Hamilton, Ohio using only top end components! This included a new Dart SHP block, forged dish pistons, aluminum Pro Comp heads, hydraulic roller cam, aluminum tunnel ram intake, Holley 770cfm carburetor with electric choke, billet distributor, chrome alternator, billet aluminum pulleys, braided stainless steel oil & fuel lines, remote oil filtration & auxiliary cooler, auxiliary electric radiator cooling fan, ceramic coated headers, and Cobra finned aluminum air cleaner & valve covers! It is a very tasteful and clean overall engine compartment presentation! Behind this powerhouse, V8 is a Tremec T5 World Class 5-speed manual transmission with short throw shifter, and 3.46 rear axle ratio.
This complete package was fully balanced and tuned to bring out approximately 470 horsepower and 450 lb. ft. of torque! This impressive small block has wicked advantages over its larger FE counterparts for being lighter, and offering cooler operating temperatures! It is quite likely the most nimble and wicked fast Cobra we have driven in some time! The high rpm 408ci engine is eye-popping fast, and the quick-shifting Tremec makes it very easy to drive! Our example also includes the telescoping steering shaft for improved steering feedback. Today, it has only 1,352 miles on the odometer which makes it still virtually new in all respects!
