Vehicle Details 1997 DODGE DAKOTA CLUB CAB PICKUP 3.9L V6 F OHV 12VGASOLINE REAR WHEEL DRIVEThis car was generously donated to Habitat for Humanity of the Lower Florida Keys by an elderly couple who did not drive much. They were the second owner of the pickup and drove it about 40,000 in 22 years. The truck needs some TLC, the headliner is loose at the front and the glove box has a string to hold it in place. The interior is in good shape but appears to have had a rodent living in it at one point, nothing bad but a bit of evidence. It is clean and no odor. The truck has sat for a while but we charged the big Diehard Battery and it started right up, shifted smoothly and drove fine. There's a vinyl bed liner and other than some smaller scratch type dent on one the passenger side rear fender, the body is in great condition. The check engine light was on and there was a bit of smoke coming off the left valve cover, an easy fix to replace that gasket but it was ready to run as is and will drive away just fine and would likely make it to California without issue, though there's no guarantee. In my assessment, the truck is great. There's a bumper mounted ball hitch on the rear bumper that's a bit bent outward but you could still likely tow with it for something smaller. I'd add a real receiver tow hitch if you plan on towing with it. These year Dakota's were noted as one of the best pickup's out there. This is the Club cab model that has a small seating area behind the front seats as well as seatbelts so you could sit back there. The glass was all fine, the tires look great, beefy with plenty of tread, it needs to have the bumper stickers cleaned off the back, wash it good and wax it and I think it will look great. Again it was donated to us, has a clean title but the mileage is listed as exempt based on age but I can assure you it only has 75,500 original miles. When I started it after it had been sitting for nearly a year, it started right up, ticked a tiny bit until the oil got to the upper side of the motor and then it ran fine, idle was fine, shifted fine. This could be a very nice pickup with not much work. Kelly blue Book retail is $2,170 average and I think this one is likely worth more than that but it is a no reserve auction starting at $1.00 I always had 100% perfect feedback in over 800 transactions until a Doctor from Germany bought a `1999 Lexus that was my wife's car last fall for $5,200. He claimed the car was a biohazard since they had a small child and it has a bit of mold in it. The car was always dealer serviced and ran amazing with only 88k miles. He was my first negative feedback and both Ebay and Paypal sided with me when he said he wanted to return the car after buying it and driving it 2,400 miles. Trust me, this Dakota is a good truck and will provide years of service with a bit of TLC. I suspect it needs an oxygen sensor and that's what the check engine light is about and I would spend a few bucks and replace the valve cover gasket on the passenger side but all the fluids were fine. It is located at mile marker 22 in the Florida Keys, just 22 miles from Key West, so expect that it is a drive to get to. If you fly into Key West, I can drive you to the registry and to the truck but you will need insurance secured before you can register it. The title is in the name of Habitat for Humanity since it was a donated truck but we never drove the truck, we simple re-titled it per the request of the donor. The owners were rich people with a house on the water with a dock in the back, they weren't slouches. . Images Download the Motors app
