Vehicle description
1922 Model T Center Door. This is a very solid old car that was owned by one family from 1986 through 2021. It was garaged and has a very presentable original interior and clean chassis. The body has an older repaint - probably from the 1970s or earlier. There"s some chips on the doors and the hint of a little rust coming through at the bottom of the cowl.
Doors open and close nicely, glass slides up and down and windshield opens and closes fine.
Car runs very nicely now - It was not running when we purchased it and the prior owner sad that they had gone through the motor but just couldn"t get it to start. It has a rebuilt Kingston carb, newer hoses, engine wiring harness, clean gas tank, etc. They gave up when the Bendix keyway broke and the starter wouldn"t crank the motor any longer.
I went through the carb and cleaned it very thoroughly, cheked timing, etc. The intake gasket was leaking so I replaced it and the exhaust manifold gasket. Within a day was able to crank start the engine.
When cold, I have to have the rear wheels off the ground to start it, but once its started, it will hand crank and run all day long without overheating or stalling. I think the oil is just too thick in the transmission and it drags the motor down when its cold. It lot drives, steers and stops fine. I have not fixed the starter yet. (Note-in photos the valve covers are off so I could check the valves. Engine seems very clean inside).
We"re located on a busy road and haven"t braved traffic with it yet but it would probably do fine.
Tires are old Ward"s Riverside and the spokes feel tight. Hubs aren"t wobbly or creaky.
Top radiator hose has a steady drip. Carb drips a little from the bowl when it"s parked with the fuel on.
Headlights and taillights work. Speedometer, horn and even the dash light work!
Interior is clean for its age. Headliner is coming loose by the windshield, front seats have some wear as shown. No carpets, but we do have an original style Ford rubber floor mat that isn"t installed in the photos.
Photos were taken this fall and the car is in our dealership warehouse for winter storage. Appointments are welcome to view it.
We"ve owned a number of Model A"s over the years but never a T. This was a fun challenge to bring it back to life and I"d like to find a good home for her.
We"re flexible on storage and pickup since it"s the middle of winter.
Please don"t click buy-it-now unless you"re serious - these listings aren"t cheap and we pay every time the car is relisted, whether the buyer pays or not.
