Vehicle description
2000 BMW M Roadster. This car was in a front passenger side accident by a previous owner, and the repairs were not done correctly (I have included photos). After discovering this, I drove the car until the tag expired in 2017, and then I garaged it planning to do the work. My life took some turns around that time and I just didn"t get around to it. I did replace the entire cooling system preventatively, and all those parts have maybe 100 miles on them. Current mileage is under 74,000. I would expect you"ll need a new battery and a fuel system flush if you want to drive it as it is.
You can probably just drive the car as is once the cobwebs are blown out, as I did for a while. However, side impact protection on the passenger side is compromised. If you"re driving the car hard, it can feel a bit darty in hard left hand turns because the front right is a bit soft, and is also cambered beyond factory specs. This will also wear the inside of the front right tyre prematurely. That said it was reliable and I still enjoyed driving it, and the car was still quick even by modern standards.
As you can see in the photos, the car is a gold mine of great parts. The over all condition of the car, aside from the poor repair, is good for its age. It mostly has wear you"d expect on a 20 year old car that"s driven regularly but maintained. If one wanted to part it out for a huge profit or use it for parts for a car with better bones, I think that"d work out nicely.
Lastly, a competent body shop can repair it back to factory form, and with the prices on Z3 M Roadsters beginning to boom, I think it makes a lot of sense to fix this one.
The last few years of my life have caused me to just lose interest unfortunately, and I"m ready to move on. I"m selling the car as-is, I hope someone will give it a better life than it"s had so far. Feel free to contact me with questions, and you"re welcome to come and look at the car if you"re near enough. Buyer is responsible for arranging to transport the car.
