Vehicle description

Beautiful "Bavarian Ferrari" in Baltic Blue, by far the best color. 5-Speed, with Sunroof (works fine with no leaks), A/C (works), leather seats, power seats, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors, Alpine stereo with single CD player. I have owned this car since 2010, and it was my daily driver (10 miles a day to and from the train station, until I stopped due to COVID in 4/20. I am the 4th owner. I have known the car since 1990, when my friend, the 3rd owner bought it. The car has been meticulously maintained by him and me. It is very original. The only modifications are stainless steel headers and SS exhaust (no catalytic converter), and a mild cam. I also replaced the original metric size wheels and tires with 3 Series period correct wheels, and 225x55 Continentals (same ride height as original). Metric wheels were a stupid idea to begin with, and now only Coker makes metric sized tires, which are nowhere as good as modern radials. Front calipers and discs are from a 750 - popular conversion for E24s - more braking power. Mileage on odometer reads 157,741 but there is approx 7K more (I had the speedo rebuilt, and while it was not working I rang up about another 7k)
Mechanics - Engine is strong and quiet, and transmission is smooth and quiet. Exhaust has a nice throaty sound. Starts every time. Battery is about 4 months old. Radiator and water pump were replaced at some point, and no cooling issues. Brakes are good, and electronics are working. Turn signals, lights, brake lights, horn, defroster, heat all work fine. W/s wipers are a little slow to get started sometimes. Slow leak(?) in power steering fluid - just topped it off and hadn"t the need to do that for a while. Gauges work fine (including trip odometer) except that the fuel gauge only goes up to 3/4 - I had the fuel gauge (and the odometer rebuilt) and it still only goes up to 3/4.
Paint, Body and Upholstery Respray about 4 years ago in the original Baltic Blue color the car came with. The body has no damage whatsoever. Neither my friend nor I have put so much as a ding in the body, except for a dime size depression on the deck lid, which was fixed when I had it repainted. The body shop said it looked like there was some minor, old, fixed damage incurred during the factory shipping. There is minor rust starting on lip of ride rear wheel well (see bubbling picture) and just behind front wheel well. Other than that the car is essentially rust free, which is not unusual for the 633s.
The upholstery and carpets have never been replaced, and are in good shape - no rips in the leather, or beading coming loose, and there have always been floor mats in the car since at least 1990. The headliner was replaced by my friend. The trunk liner is in good shape. Tools are essentially complete, but the chrome is rusted (BMW must have used so really cheap plating for its tools).
Other Minor issues - Rear window defroster does not work (I am told that this likely due to a break in the thermal wires on the rear window and that this may be able to be fixed easily - don"t know). Speaker grill for speaker in passenger side kick panel is missing. Escutcheon on the door lock part of the driver"s handle is missing, interior door handle on passenger side is missing plastic trim piece on body panel - I have it and will try to glue in on in the next couple of days. There is a triangular plate missing above each front door on the inside, directly across from the mirrors. I believe I have 1 (ordered from BMW a few years ago). Their absence creates a little wind noise, as there is a weep hole in the cavity covered by the plate. Driver"s seat frame seems less than completely anchored.
Title - Maryland title is completely clean. It is in my name only, and there is no lien, and nothing filled out on the back (so no marks, erasures, etc) Will send photos upon request.
Why am I selling? - I am retiring and moving to an islandin the Northeast, where the highest speed limit is 40 mph. I really want to sell the car, but if I don"tget a fair price I will take it with me. I will probably regret selling it. Comes with original owner"s manual PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS- Payment by wire is due within 72hours after end of auction or when car is picked up, whichever comesfirst. I will provide wire instructionsafter auction ends. Other arrangementsMAY be possible.
