Vehicle description
This car was built in the Dundalk General Motors factory in Baltimore, Maryland in 1980. That factory is now an Amazon warehouse.
Been my daily driver for the last 10 years and STILL DRIVING. I drive about 20 miles round trip to work. Currently registered with standard tags. Cosmetically, photos tell the story. Mechanically, the original 229ci V6 with 141k miles runs like a top. Starts every time in all weather and purrs like a kitten. New exhaust from cat back and rebuilt transmission about 3 or 4 years ago. Has consistently passed every emission test with flying colors.
Selling because rust has compromised several key components: Gas tank leaking because of rust. Needs to be replaced. Will hold half a tank without leaking. Sending unit and gauge work fine. Both rear body mounts have rusted through and need to be repaired. Left rear metal brake line sprang a leak a few weeks ago because it has rusted through. Needs to be replaced. Heater core rusted through a few years ago, so I disconnected. No heat. Windshield and rear window leak a little around the trim in the rain. No cracks or chips in glass. Floorboards are intact with a couple soft spots. A mechanic in Westminster, MD can do all this work CHEAP.
This Malibu was originally sold as a base (bare bones) model, so there were absolutely no options. The dealer-installed Motorola radio works, but the single dash speaker blew a few months ago. The dome light works, but the switch broke, leaving it always on, so I removed the bulb. The registration expires 10/31. I will have to remove the tags, but if you bring your own tags, I don"t see any reason this car wouldn"t get you home. Would I recommend driving it as it is? He! no! It is definitely not safe, but it is reliable.
Sold AS IS, WHERE IS. Sale is final. Full payment due within 5 days of auction end. (See payment details) offers only 3 or 7 day options, but I think 5 is reasonable. Paypal, cash, and cashier"s check accepted.
Feel free to ask any questions. Local pick up or buyer arranges shipping. NO RESERVE! ! Thanks for looking, and happy bidding!
