“The car runs, drives, stops, and steers well. There is evidence of age and limited wear considering the age of the car, etc., but no major damage or issues to speak of. Vehicle description
1956 Fairlane Club Sedan
I will be listing a few cars here in the next week or two for my family. We are reducing are number of cars, so please see my other listings as well. I am not a dealer. "The NEW "56 Ford . .with new and exclusive new LIFEGUARD DESIGN!" The 1956 Ford was not only built to be beautiful and perform well, but Ford was also heavily promoting their safety features that year. The "Double Grip Door Latches" to prevent doors opening in the event of a crash and the "Deep Dish Safety Design Steering Wheel" are examples of these Lifeguard Designs. The 1955-1956 Fords are now regarded as one of the most beautiful and collectible cars of the 1950s! Here we have a beautiful Fairlane Club Sedan that has been well loved by its past owners. This is believed to be only a three owner car with 58k original miles. It has been serviced well through the years, but remains mostly an unrestored type car and should remain as such. This would be a v ery nice car for all your cruise night events, local car shows, or just own/drive for fun! This car will be a treasure for your family to own for years to come and a great investment too. .
Features:
· Original sticker price: $2,045.00 · Engine: 292ci “Thunderbird” Y-Block V8 (4 BBL, 202 HP) · Transmission: Ford-O-Matic (3 speed automatic) · Dual Exhaust (through bumper) · Electrical System: 12 volts (first year) · Production Figure for this model: 142,629 · Wheelbase: 115.5 inches · Fuel economy: 14-18 mpg · Weight: 3,400 lbs. · Overall Length: 198.5 inches · Top Speed – 107 MPH (theoretical) · 0-60 Time – 9.3 seconds · ¼ Mile – 17.2 seconds
This Ford was an early production model which was built at the Kansas City, MO plant. It was purchased new in Tulsa, OK and was last registered in Virginia before making it down here to the Jacksonville, FL area. The original 292 M-Code Thunderbird Y-Block V8 was rebuilt at 55k miles in 1997. It starts and runs very well, idles smooth, sounds fantastic, and makes very good power. The transmission shifts and operates well at all speeds. Working gauges and lights. Doors open and close nicely with a thud. Comes with a big folder of receipts. .some recent work includes: a new brake system, new gas tank, fuel pump, voltage regulator, battery, u-joints, exhaust, hoses, water pump, generator, and rebuilt carburetor. The car runs and starts with just a touch of a key! FYI - If you would like A/C added, it can be done for the next owner (please feel free to contact me for details and pricing). A power brake booster and dual master cylinder is also included with the sale in the event you decide to add power brakes.
This is a beautiful looking "survivor" type car inside and out. Looks almost as if it was pulled out of a garage in the mide-late 1960s! The exterior paint looks much better in photos than in person. While it does look great from 20 feet away, or in photos, it is much older and has some flaws due to age. Some of the light green may even be the original paint, but the dark green was re-painted at some point a long time ago. This is NOT a rust problem car. Not only has the car been in a good climate all of its life, it"s also been a garage kept car. Very nice and solid under-carriage with no undercoat. Much of the chrome and stainless is original, however, it appears as though someone may have replaced the grill, re-chromed the front bumper, and perhaps replaced a few other emblems at some point in the past. VERY nice original dash, steering wheel/horn ring, knobs and controls. The interior in general is quite nice for the age of the car. Engine bay and trunk are both clean and tidy with the original plaid mat still in the trunk. Passenger window is stubborn to go down due to lack of use, but has good glass all the way around with no cracks or fogging (most with the "FOMOCO" emblems still on them). It may not win a trophy at every car show you take it to, but it is quite a charming looking car just the way it is and people will love it!
Please see the photos and ask whatever questions you might have. I do have a video of the car running that I can send by request.
I reserve the right to end the listing early at any time for the right offer. The car could be for sale locally as well.
