Vehicle description
Up for sale is a really nice, no expense spared replica of a Ferrari 328. If you"re looking for one of these cars, then I hope my story and experiences leading to my owning this type of car will prove helpful. Like a zillion of us growing up in the 70s, I fell in love with the Magnum PI 308 vowing one day to own one. Later in life I was lucky enough to be able to aquire one. No car I"ve owned disappointed me more. It was a 1981 308 fuel injected POS. Despite their sleek looks, they are sooo slow and insanely expensive to maintain; figure 5k a year. Ok, so it"s a Ferrari, you have to expect that. .BUT, the thing is you are never guaranteed that spending that much will actually get you from point A to B. The breakdowns were chronic. You would never in a million years take it out of the 200 mile AAA towing range. All that said, it was so beautiful to look at. I sold it and decided to look for a replica figuring I"d have the best of both worlds; great looks, cheap maintenance. .so I bought a replica based on the Fiero. It had the 6 cylinder 2.8 with the 5 spd and the Lotus Esprit type Fiero interior. .Immediately, two things stood out. like every Fiero owner, I wished it had more power. it was still more fun to drive than the Ferrari 308, however. The other thing that I didn"t like was the interior. As you"d expect given the cost, the real Ferrari interior was so much nicer but those two things nagged at me so I sold it and waited for one that had the upgrades I wanted. That brings me to this one. This is a really well done car. The lines and gaps are as they should be. The Ferrari rosa red paint is flawless, not a single rock chip anywhere. The car looks brand new. Someone spent the $3k and the countless hours to install the PISA Ferrari interior so it has that Ferrari feel and look when you"re inside it. It has a 5 spd transmission. I just replaced the clutch line and slave cylinder. AND, this is the best part. .the original 2.8 engine was replaced with a supercharged V6 from a 1992 Bonneville. NOW, with the supercharger, it"s a really fun car to drive. It has 4 brand new tires with less than 50 miles on them. The electric windows and lights work but are slow. as much from lack of use as anything. IT DOESN"T HAVE AC. Can"t imagine that would be to hard to install if ya need it. The speedo doesn"t work. all other gauges do. the gas gauge is reversed. empty is fulI. I had planned on having the interior dyed all black after first seeing it but after a couple of times it didn"t seem so obnoxious and I"ve left it alone. I frankly don"t have any idea how many miles are on the engine, but the oil pressure is through the roof and it doesn"t smoke or drip oil. It has that Ferrari sound and a nice stereo system. I have ordered two new window switches that will go with the car to replace the worn looking ones there now. Hope all this helps. .please don"t bid on the car without your wife"s permission or funds. .good luck bidding and driving/parking the car. .you"re going to be swamped with people wanting to talk about it and have their picture taken with it. The car is located on Edisto island about one hour south of Charleston SC. 29438 is the shipping zip code. If you"d rather be Crockett than Magnum, check out my other listing for an awesome McBurnie Daytona.
