Vehicle description
When it comes to iconic beauty mated with unmatched performance and design, the fabled Aston Martin has no equal. This particular model is worthy of as many superlatives as can be associated with such a pristine example. With just two Dallas owners, this remarkably preserved urban cruisers presents as new and has lacked for nothing throughout its patrician life. Having traveled just 13,495 miles, this car is the resident of a 3rd vacation home and has always been stored in a climate controlled environment and used only on sunny days for trips to the tennis club, Neiman Marcus, dinner. Repeat. And even though it is slightly over a decade old, it is still a car that valets put in position one, people still gawk at it and take selfies with it wherever it goes. The timeless styling of an AM is irresistible to nearly anyone who loves cars or who has ever watched a James Bond movie. In Aston Martin’s lexicon, four-seat convertibles are known as Volantes, center stacks are called façades, and in the case of the DBS and the 2009 DB9, the key is known as an Emotion Control Unit. That last term deserves a chuckle, because it takes more than a pocket-sized stainless-steel-and-glass transmitter to control the emotion elicited on rousing the 12 cylinders that live under the hood of a drop-dead gorgeous DB9 Volante. But be assured every expectation is met and exceeded the moment the spectacular power-plant growls to life. Certainly, the DB9 could sell on looks alone, but when a car is this beautiful (and with an original MSRP an eye-popping $204,000), performance expectations are high. The DB9’s curb appeal is matched by its performance and was enhanced in 2009 when Martin blessed the ’09 DB9 with more horsepower, a quicker-shifting automatic, and minor chassis tweaks, all intended to help bring its thrill factor more into balance with its immutable beauty. The 2009 update brought revised cylinder heads that increased the compression ratio from 10.3:1 to 10.9:1, putting 21 more ponies into the 5.9-liter V-12’s stable for a total of 470 at 6000 rpm, with torque remaining the same: 443 pound-feet at 5000 rpm. Of course, the aural soundtrack retains all the glorious notes you will love in this particular V-12, which just roars once the needle crosses 4000 revs. This car presents virtually as new. It has zero curb rash, no door dings, not even the typical pinpoint rock pecks you might expect on a car whose top-end speed exceeds 200 mph. The paint is 100% original and is flawless. The headlamps and taillights are crystal clear, have no fogging or crazing. And the interior. . well just take a look. As is typical of DB9’s of this era, and due to the unspeakably tender-touch of the leather, even the lowest mile DB seats tend to sag. Not this one. Several years ago Aston Martin refitted the seats with all new contours and padding with OEM equipment, bringing the fitment and tautness of the seats back to day-one specifications. The endless woodwork is without cracking or fading and even the interior door pulls (typically worn), show no wear whatsoever. To say this car has been coddled and loved tenderly is a supreme understatement. All books and records come with the car, together with an unused trunk AM umbrella (so often lost or stolen), and even has the ultra rare windscreen with all the original protective case and mounting instructions. This is one of those rare cars that will come off the truck, exceed your expectations and will require virtually nothing other than to drive, show off and enjoy. Among the few remaining Volante’s of this era with such low miles, you will not find a nicer or more pristine example. And at a fraction of its original cost, it is irreplaceable at any cost, but very fairly priced at $54,895. Do not wait and regret. Press the buy it now for the very best of everything.
