Vehicle description

Vehicle Details Very rear 1958 Rambler Ambassador Super Cross Country wagon. They made only 1051 of these in 1958. Mileage says 88,xxx. has the 327 small block. First year they came out with the 327. 6 years before the chevy 327. Factory 4 barrel dual exhaust. This car runs and drives. The car sat since the mid 70s in a lean to near Kansas City, Mo. and was pulled out 5 years ago. front brakes where locked up and installed Scarebird front disc brake conversion on it. Put a different Holley 4 barrel on it, cleaned tank out and installed an electric fuel pump. Car starts right up every time. Motor does leak oil through all the gaskets which makes it smoke from burning on motor Transmission is a push button on dash and shifts perfect and will need a new pan gasket as well. The car is factory Power Steering and works great, but also needs new seals. The Factory AC is all still there, but the wire on the Compressor is not hooked up and I never bothered to even try to work on it and see if it works. The car never overheats and we have driven it on 250 mile round trips to the Lake of Ozarks and back. We just done a 180 mile round trip car cruise with it on the first weekend of February. Brakes are still a little soft, I think a better master cylinder would help. I don't think I'd drive it cross country. With the motor smoking like it does and with soft brakes. I would suggest trailering it home if you buy it. I would personally drive it if not that far. The body is in pretty good shape. All the glass is there and no cracks or chips. Back window roles down perfect, I just replace the crack(found one on Ebay) and the original goes with it because of the lock the needs to go on new one. front bumper does have a tweak on the passenger side, but no kinks or dents. the passenger driving light is cracked, but works good. headlight work blinkers work. Passenger side fender has rust on lower side and looks like its been fixed and painted at one time in its life. The passenger Rocker is rusted out and would be easy to make another one with a metal brake.drivers has some rust(i think it can be saved) Doors in great shape, quarters in great shape and seem to be solid. All the chrome and trim is there. the passenger chrome has two big dings in it. The Rambler emblem on passenger fender is broke, but have the other piece so it can be fixed, the tailgate cross country emblem is broke as well but is all there. the roof has two dings above the drivers passenger door(nothing horrible) . the Unibody structure underneath could use some patching and metal replaced as well.Front seat is wore out, back seat is good, headliner all there in one piece, floor boards will need to be patched, there are big rust holes in them. Can see one in pics of rear floor board hole. fronts have been temporary patched. The rear is all solid. The front seats fold down flat to match up with rear seats, to make a bed for when people traveled. Back seat also folds down flats. The speedometer worked when i first started driving and then it just stopped one day. Radio doesnt work(never tried to make it work). Heater works great and wipers are vacuum .The door panels are wore and through the years have been wet(common problem with these this old). Tires are in good shape and i powder coated the wheels and installed the Rambler hubcaps. I do had the original Ambassador wheel covers that will go with it as well. I trying to described everything the best that I can. Most the pics you can see the issued I've described. I havent had the time like I want or need to start fixing all the easy things like the interior stuff. They do make new carpet for these and you can find several parts on Ebay. I do have a folder full of different place to find parts. Goggle this car and you will all kinds of info on it. This was in the Top 4 Wagons to own in 1958. If you have any questions about anything about the car, please message me. Depending where you are located, I could deliver for a fee as well.THIS CAR IS LISTED LOCALLY AS WELL, SO I HAVE THE RIGHT TO STOP THE AUCTION IF IT SELLS LOCALLY.Buyer needs to pay $500 deposit within 3 days of auction ending. Non-refundable and will come off the price you owe once picked up. Possible delivery for for extra fee. Images Download the Motors app
