Vehicle description
For sale, 1 of 284 Big Bad Green 1969 AMC AMX"s built - built as a 390, 4 speed, go pack, PS, PB - currently has service block (3198951) along with 290 cylinder heads - R4B Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and an Edelbrock carburetor - Pertronix installed in the distributor - otherwise appears stock - carb is running rich and may need adjustment or perhaps a kit installed to freshen it. Car runs and drives and stops - when it sits a few days I have to give it a shot of gas to help it start - a new Carter fuel pump is included in the sale. With that let"s move on.
Body: - car is straight - driver quality paint, not perfect but presents well - I have been over the body with a magnet and found bondo behind both back tires (common) and around the driver side rear wheel well - no idea how thick (I use a fridge magnet) - floors have had patches put on in the front floors - to do it properly one should cut out the rust and weld in proper panels - I do not know how the patches were applied (I see no screws) - troughs under front fenders are fine - car has been painted or sealed in a black material underneath and also has a new gas tank. Glass is all good. Wheels and tires in good condition. Has Trendsetter side exhaust, rear spoiler, front spoiler (black) and rear window louvers.
Interior: - it appears the previous owner was working on the interior when he had to stop (health problems) - new carpet was being installed but needs to be finished around the rear wheel wells - seats are ok as well as the center arm rest - kick panels included but not installed - I have a black glove box (needs painting) and also includes the installation bolts and correct lock - I have the small piece for under the steering column - black as well - needs paint - I also have the radio pod along with a new lighter, correct radio with faceplate, and ashtray - have correct visors - car needs a headliner - I have a hooded gage bezel/cover in brown but will need to be painted as well for a perfect match. I have a radio here available at an extra cost - I have the woodgrain speaker cover with tag #09437 - I only have black ones available for purchase. I also have the armrests but need painting as well. So, I have collected the missing items with the exception of a headliner and that is readily available from AMC like Kennedy American.
Drivetrain : - Car was born with a 390 but now has a service block (3198951) and 290 heads - I have correct block, crank, and heads available for sale should one wish to make the car"s engine correct. New Carter fuel pump included. I also have a correct, restored carb and a correct air cleaner assembly available. I do not know the differential ratio nor which first gear ratio the transmission has. The car has the correct Hurst shifter.
Electrical: - this is an area it needs some help in. Lights work - no horn (missing horn button), no wipers, no heater - I can include another wiper motor (unknown condition), I also have an extra heater panel along with cables.
The car is in Fargo, ND - name is Dean - cell - feel free to call to discuss (I prefer it over emails/text). I also have most of what the car needs to correct things - it is a rare car and real Big Bad colored cars are not easy to find - I am selling this car at no reserve - top bidder owns it - clear title as well. Thank you for looking - I am at an age where I prefer to buy a done car and have done more than my share of projects and this car is really not a major project car by any means - it just needs someone willing to tidy things up and enjoy it. Lastly, I reserve the right to end this auction early at any given time. Thanks again.
Also, I have a local shipper should you need an assist for shipping the car.
Update: - I have had a couple people look at the car - the rear spoiler is fiberglass aftermarket - also, the quarter panels have been replaced, about 1/2 way up (can be seen in the trunk) - and finally, I have had several calls from people offering less - I will not let it go for a dime less than price posted - end of story - Thank you.
