Vehicle description
1968 Dodge Power Wagon W200 3/4 Ton 4x4 Four Wheel Drive Heavy Duty Pickup Truck. Amazing survivor truck with original Desert Turquoise paint and original drivetrain in excellent condition. Many period options including chassis undercoating, Viking 8000lb winch, heavy duty rear bumper package, CB radio, and AM/FM 8-track player. Odometer shows 14k miles, likely total mileage is 114k. Sold new at Dodson Motors in Montana, and never left the region until 2020 when I purchased the truck. Original owner had the truck for 40 years, then the truck went to his friend who stored it for many years. The truck has been very well cared for and stored inside most of its life. Service records show the truck has only traveled a couple thousand miles since 1993. Includes original manuals, warranty papers, registrations, receipts, and other paperwork. Original jack and tools are still in place, as is the original spare in the under-bed carrier. Several factory chalk marks are clearly visible under the hood, including “Two Tone” scribed on the firewall. Factory style 16” wheels have 7.50 vintage all terrain tires, and three original split rims are included with the truck. The original factory Desert Turquoise paint still shines. There are many scratches and chips, particularly on the outside of the bed sides and tailgate that have been touched up over the years. Overall, a very straight truck with a few minor dings here and there. All panels are original and have consistent paint - no evidence of any body repair ever. Appears to be all original glass, and stainless trim and emblems are very nice with no pitting. The cab and windshield areas look great, as do the step wells, cab corners, and drop offs. The underside is extremely clean and was thoroughly protected by the undercoating. There is bright shiny turquoise paint where the undercoating has flaked off. The bottoms of the rockers and bed are very solid and only show rock chips to the painted surface. The only apparent evidence of any minor rust issues is on the bottom of the driver door (see picture) (which has been previously repainted in matching turquoise) and some surface rust on the firewall around the brake master cylinder. There are some dents and surface rust on the bed floor. The interior is original, clean, and presentable. The seat bottom was reupholstered years ago, but the seat back appears to be the original vinyl. I believe everything works – lights, heater, wipers, radio/8-track player, parking brake, horn, etc. all work. Gauges work, however, the fuel gauge is intermittent. Windows roll up and down smoothly, and the doors open and close very well, and the doors lock as they should. No unexpected smells or noises. Good overall mechanical condition. Starts easily, runs, drives, and stops. Original 225 slant 6 runs smooth with no noises, smoke, or leaks. Truck was well maintained and it shows. Trans shifts well and 4WD works in both high and low range. Bias ply deep lug traction tires have good tread and no cracks, but they are old. According to the previous owner, the auxiliary fuel tanks were drained and haven’t been used for years. Truck is running a dual battery setup with a dedicated battery for the winch. (I cannot get the winch to work, it may be the starter solenoid) Both batteries were replaced in 2016 and the truck starts easily even after sitting for one month. Manual brakes and steering. I have not driven the truck very much, but it drives well on surface streets. No highway miles yet during my ownership. Please keep in mind this is a 52+ year old truck, and although it runs and drives, and it is an amazing survivor, it will likely need some work here and there along the way as you drive it. Please take a look at the pictures and let me know if you have any questions. I have a clean Montana title. The vintage Montana license plates will remain on the truck. The truck is located in the SF bay area, California. Here is a short video of the truck running: 1968 Dodge Power Wagon W200 01.14.21 - YouTube
