Vehicle description
1986 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Wolfsburg Edition
Welcome! Up for sale is our 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia Camper Van. This is the nicer Wolfsburg Edition. This car has been amazing fun for our family but it is now time for us to part with it and let the next adventurer take advantage of this great vehicle! It is in very original and well preserved condition, retaining its original paint and interior. There are of course a few paint chips, scratches, and dings. It is after-all an adventure vehicle. Some paint touches to be noticed, as visible in the photographs, we"ve added over 80 pictures further down in the description, so please take the time to view them. This Van was nicely upgraded with a mild suspension lift kit from GoWesty, giving it much improved ground clearance enabling us to go some of the best camp spots we had ever seen! Also upgraded with some BFGoodrich KM2 tires, there was hardly any trail we couldn"t make it to. 1986 was also the first year of the upgraded engines in Vanagons.
The Body is in very solid/good condition. No structural rust to be seen. 90% original paintwork all around the car. No accident records or signs of such. Some touchups and light bodywork noticed. No current rust issues.
The interior is original and very well taken care of, we had some seat covers over them throughout our use and only removed them for the pictures and the sale. So imperfections and wear to be expected as it is 35 years young!
The engine runs great, good oil pressure on startup and strong even the engine is hot. An aftermarket oil pressure gauge was added to keep a good eye on it. Transmission shifts smooth, no issues to report.
Brakes are good, we just had the front end serviced with new pads. Up-rated suspension all around from GoWesty.
The pop-up camper tent works great, the canvas could use a replacement but it is still very usable, some holes in the zip up mosquito screen and some patches on the canvas, also comes with the rear door mosquito netting.
The radio is aftermarket and a bit dodgy, but still works.
This Van is ready for adventure! Has been super reliable with us and is ready to go anywhere.
If you have any questions or concerns please let me know, send me your questions through ebay and we can even have a talk on the phone if you"d like.
Shipping is the responsibility and charge to the buyer, I can assist in making arrangements if you"re not familiar with it, or come on over and stay in it here on the island a few weeks and ship it yourself. Cost to get it to the West Coast is about $900-1000 and just takes a couple of weeks.
