This Acura RSX Base/Leather/Auto was special ordered from Columbia Acura in Cincinnati, Ohio by the original owner in July of 2002. The car entered into the San Diego Port of Entry the first week of Sept. 2002. It arrived at the ordering dealer on Sept. 10 th , and was first titled Sept. 16 th , 2002. The original owner/purchaser of the vehicle was very particular regarding the exterior color of Eternal Blue Pearl, (a fairly rare color exclusive only to the RSX Base and not available on the Type S), in combination with the Ebony Leather interior. He was also partial to not having to shift, hence the Sequential SportShift Automatic 5 speed. Engine oil has been replaced with Red Line 5W-30 and a factory Acura filter. Trans and Brake fluids were flushed in 2017. The original Michelin MXM4 tires were replaced in February of 2018 with BF. Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2s and “Plus Zero” sized to 225/50-R16. The tires now have accumulated approx. 3000 miles of use. The OE Acura battery was replaced with a 500 CCA Napa Legend 7551R battery on May, 4 th of 2019. The car still sports the original Acura Factory Brake pads, and original Factory Wiper Blades.
The car will be sold with the Acura All-Season mats, Acura Full Nose Mask, Original OE Factory Headlights w/ Factory Bulbs, and the original Factory Air Box complete with all associated mounting hardware. The original window sticker, Acura 2002 RSX Sales Brochure, and all supplied glovebox manuals, along with the originally supplied Acura Branded Ball Point Pen will be included. The original owner of this car explained his purchasing and ownership to me as follows: “Some people can afford to collect Ferraris’ and Porsches… I can’t. So, this was my Ferrari.” This car was adult owned and impeccably maintained in a climate controlled garage. It remained covered whenever stored. It was driven in only perfect weather conditions, so the car had never seen a rain storm under previous ownership. Literally. When I was told this fact, I opted to have the car transported enclosed trailer. In my period of ownership the car has also never seen ANY adverse weather, especially here in sunny San Diego. It is stored covered, in an aircraft hangar and gets driven approx.every 45-60 days. The original owner sold the car to me after 15 years of his ownership due to the arrival of another child. As second owner of this car, I was committed to maintain the vehicle with the same diligence and respect as the original owner. I own another Acura RSX, a pristine 2006 Type S, and the combination of ownership of both vehicles, provides enjoyable and varied driving experiences, both fun and exhilarating. Also, this car consistently will out-accelerate my Type S up to about 70mph, at which point the Type S walks away. This car is not "faster", but it"s "quicker". No wheel spin, no manual shifting, and is very happy running on 87 octane unlike the Type S.
The car was delivered to me in August of 2017 with 7,184 miles on the odometer. The balance of the mileage was accumulated with multiple day trips to Palm Springs and surrounding areas of Southern California. During my ownership, the car has never spent an evening outdoors and has always remained covered when in garage storage. This is an absolutely stunning car in impeccable, almost Museum condition. It still maintains a “Showroom New” smell when you open the door. There is not a single squeak, rattle, tick, pop, or noise that comes from anywhere in this vehicle. I would like to tell you that the car is “PERFECT”, but there is no such thing. It runs and drives like a brand new car. Mechanically, the car is absolutely flawless. This car represents Acura"s transition from the original Acura Integra to the DC5 Integra in Japan, and the DC5 RSX in the U.S. In my opinion, the DC5 held greater poise, a much more rigid body structure, and an ergonomic driving position second to none. Everything in this drivers cabin feels like it"s exactly where it should be. This DC5 was the epitome of the Acura Luxury Sport Hatchback. Whereas, I feel the DC5 Type S was more of the "Boy Racer" counterpart with it"s 5K + Powerband, Vibrations, and compromised MPGs, keeping in mind I own both so feel somewhat qualified to make a fair comparison.
This RSX without a doubt, will be as close to the experience of buying a new RSX in 2019 as you will find. The car is inexpensive to insure and register because it"s a 2002. However, it looks, smells, and drives like a new 2019. It"s the best of both worlds. I have been on Ebay since 2002 and have sold over two dozen collectors vehicles, still maintaining a perfect 100% Feedback Rating.
