Vehicle description
1986 Chevrolet Corvette Z-51. The car came equipped with the 4+3 manual transmission the has been replaced with a black tag ZF 6 speed. Low mileage dana 44 rear end with 3.45 gearset. Dual mass flywheel with spec clutch. The front brakes have been upgraded to C-4 ZR-1 / J55 front brakes with a vette brakes and products caliper brackets, stock rear brakes and Russel braided brake hoses installed all around. If the purchaser prefers, I can swap out the J55 setup with the C-5 Z06 brake upgrade kit. Later model C4 brake master cylinder installed. Dewitts aluminum radiator, power steering cooler, and brake coolers installed. Time for new brake cooling hoses however. All of the braking and cooling was installed to cope with the 6.3 liter / 383 engine. AFR 195 Eliminator cylinder heads, Mahle forged pistons, Eagle 6 inch rods with an Eagle 3.75 inch stroke crank. Comp cams valvetrain from the cam to the 1.6 roller rocker arms. Melling shark tooth oil pump and Canton baffled and winged sump. FiTech fuel injection feeds the engine which exhales thru Hooker 1.75 inch headers into a custom 3 inch exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. Vetteaid analog replacement dash installed along with a Corbeau Forza seat and 5 point harness for the driver, stock passenger seat. The 3 point stock seatbelts retained. Stock springsn and Z51 spec Bilstein shocks retained. After the oe frontbearings kept failingad an alarming rate, I installed the Detriot speed adapters with th SKF XTracker bearing hubs-zero failures since. The suspension was rebuilt 4 years ago with urethane bushings, new ball joints, heim jointed strut rods, Doug Rippie rear trailing arm relocation brackets. A Detroit aftermarket replacement rack and pinion, new power steering lines and rebuilt pump installed March of this year. The car has been autocrossed with the midwest region NCCC and track days the last 3 years. The rear wheel bearings were replaced 4 years ago and again a year ago. The body is not perfect, rock chipped, mismatched paint, cracks and some old repairs are becoming apparent. This car is fast and fun! Extras included with the purchase are: Kirkey race seat with cover, 3 sets of wheels: 16, 17 and 18 inch, rebuildable Z-51 steering rack, ZF black tag transmission with 1-2 synchros sketchy, original targa top and hardware, J-55 brake rotors (will need to be turned), dual mass flywheel and assorted spares. I would be willing to trade up and add cash for a Corvette C-5 coupe, Targa or Z06.
