Vehicle description
I am selling a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 Six Pack project car.
This is a REAL V Code 440 Six Pack and is factory equipped with 4 speed, super track pack (4:10 Dana 60), EV2 hemi orange, black stripe, black interior, manual steering, power disc brakes, no console, no vinyl top, chrome exhaust tips, light group, dual painted racing mirrors.
The original fender tag is in place and ALL the body numbers are correct and untouched.
This car has been sitting since the 70"s and was probably an old street racer or bracket car before it was parked. I purchased the car last year and what I was told is that it was found in a garage where it had been sitting for decades and when the owner died the estate sold it.
This is mostly original paint and I see no evidence of any collision damage.
I own and operate a professional restoration shop (Retro-Muscle Automotive, Van Buren, Arkansas) and purchased this car to use a platform to showcase our work but have decided to use a different car for that purpose.
Here is my professional evaluation of the car:
the overall condition of the unibody is very solid with perfect frame rails, front and rear, excellent original inner fenders, core support, shock towers. Firewall and cowling overall very solid with a small patch required to the left of the brake booster. Roof overall excellent (non-vinyl top car), window channels look very nice from what I can see, door jambs and cowling lower side panels all excellent. Original floor pans, seat pans, rear foot wells all in very nice condition. It looks like the carpet was removed when the car was fairly new and the floors were painted black, preserving them nicely. The only damage I see is where the 4 speed tunnel was modified for a vertigate shifter. A NEW AMD TUNNEL IS INCLUDED. All inner roof structures, package tray, inner quarter areas are all excellent. The trunk floor has some rust and should probably be replaced. The original quarters are still in place. The left quarter would be fine with a couple patch panels down low and possibly the quarter extension. The right quarter has had the lower rear section cut out for some reason? Possible a tire exploded and got torn up? This quarter will need more work and really needs replaced from the body line down. I have an original cut off pair of quarter panels that I will include for sections or body line down portions. The tail panel looks fine. Trunk gutters may need work after the seam sealer is removed.
The original doors are very solid and straight. They have both had speaker holes cut into the front section but this could be repaired easily.
Both original fenders are rough. I have included a SUPER NICE, ORIGINAL PAINT, MATCHED PAIR of Assembly Line Original 1970 Challenger Fenders.
The front and rear valances are original and are both restorable.
The hood on the car is junk but a NEW AMD HOOD is included. The junk hood had nice original inserts for this new hood.
The original trunk lid has some rust and could be repaired or replaced.
The interior is mostly complete and original. The 4 speed pedals are untouched and even the original clutch safety switch is perfect. I have all the original dash plastic, rallye cluster (Rebuilt), light bar, woodgrain bezels, glovebox door, ashtray, kick panels, correct original sun visors, headliner bows, all interior metal trims, door panels (the original fronts are very nice but have round speaker holes in front), nice correct 1970 ONLY seat cores and matching rear seat, the original am radio is missing, correct original steering column is complete and looks untouched, Key works fine and original woodgrain wheel looks very nice.
I have all the exterior stainless trim not pictured. This is VERY NICE Original Trim that I have for this car. You will not need to buy aftermarket windshield trim or rear window trim. I will provide excellent cores to restore.
I do not have the hood, trunk or rear quarter aluminum trims.
The tail lights are nice original cores to have restored if wanted.
The grille is a nice original that would be easy to restore. The headlight bezels are both rough.
I have a nice original pair of park light assemblies that will go with the car.
The original (1970 only) hood hinges are included.
Correct original hood latch and hood safety catch
