There is no doubt this sexy beast wants you to know it is WS6 Performance Package, blazingly displayed in a red and silver emblem. Yes, you"re looking at a car that can do 0-60 in 5.8 seconds with a top speed of about 160mph and that"s stock - from 20 years ago! The mighty LT1 5.7 Liter 350 Cubic Inch V8 has a less restrictive exhaust system with incorporating duel cats instead of the previous single canister. With the Pontiac, Only Ram Air option horsepower muscled out another 20 horses to a venomous 305 HP and 335 pounds of torque, proud numbers even in today"s environment. The 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission shifts and handles the performance as it should. The only way to get the Ram Air engine was to order the Ram Air WS6 Performance and Handling Package, a $4,000 increase over the Firebird price. Both of these names were synonyms with Pontiac Performance from years past but not recently used. The WS6 meant stiffer suspension, steering and four-wheel disc brakes that made the Trans Ams of the 70"s America"s best handling car of its time.
