Vehicle description

2001 Ford Excursion LIMITED - 7.3L Power Stroke V8 diesel engine ("the best diesel engine model" according to my mechanic)
Features 4WD.
Excellent condition for its age. I"ve made many upgrades and customizations that were thousands of dollars alone. This is not a standard truck!
Added Safe Drive Systems lane departure system. This is a critical enhancement to a truck this size. I did a lot of research before selecting the SDS, and had it professionally installed by an SDS installer who flew out to my location to install it. Visit their website for more details: https:/ safedrivesystems.com/
Added an Owl Camera which connects to your phone and helps monitor the truck when you are away. Visit their website for more details: https:/ owlcam.com/
Added StowAway2 storage tow which can be detached and swings out of the way to get to the back doors. Visit their website for more details: https:/ www.stowaway2.com/
Has a backup camera on the back of the StowAway and main truck body in case you detach the StowAway2 for some trips.
Replaced the Ford radio with a new one featuring GPS, satellite radio receiver, CD player, Bluetooth, phone connection and USB input.
Added Thule roof mount storage. This is the exact one I installed - Thule 611 Boxter Rooftop Cargo Box: https:/ www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PQQFRU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Tinted the windows.
Added a heavy duty DC to AC converter (yellow box pictured) so you can run your laptop for long periods and not ruin the alternator.
Added a work table by RAM mounts in case you need to pull over and use your laptop or write. These can be easily detached.
Added a cellular signal booster so you can be in the middle of nowhere and stand a better chance of getting a signal.
Always had it professionally cleaned. It is sitting in the garage, safe and sound. . Ready for you.
For some more background about my use case for this workhorse truck:
I purchased this used around 2010 specifically so I could bring my dog with me on cross country trips. The first thing I did was take it to my Ford diesel mechanic. I"ve been a Ford owner most of my life, and know the mechanic well. I asked him to fix every single thing he found wrong with it.
My first bill for repairs alone was $16K in 2010, and that was to fix everything the mechanic found. I have paid to have absolutely everything he has found since then also repaired. So while it is high mileage, it is in as good of mechanical condition as it can be from what my mechanic always told me.
Make no mistake. Owning a diesel truck like this is not cheap. You will be spending money with your mechanic regularly to keep it maintained at the level I have done over these years.
But you can also enjoy incredible freedom going on long road trips with your significant other and dog (hopefully) as I did, after being confined to home for far too long for obvious reasons this past year.
I transported my beloved (now deceased) German Shepherd Dog - Marley - probably 50 times back and forth between Illinois and California in this truck (2,200 miles each way). I drove it up to Vancouver once, also to Yosemite several times, and as far as the Badlands in South Dakota.
The only reason I am selling this truck is because my dog passed away, and so I don"t need it anymore. I am now married with a child and my days of adventure in this truck are over, unfortunately. It has served me faithfully and I am confident it will do the same for you if you take care of it as I have done.
I will supply you will all paperwork of every repair I have had made in PDF form if you buy this vehicle, or are seriously considering buying it and want to see how much I"ve spent on it before you make the final decision to purchase.
Every time I have made a trip, immediately after returning to Illinois I always asked the mechanic to fix absolutely everything he found wrong. I could not risk having it break down while I was on a long road trip with my aging GSD, especially through the Mojave desert.
I hope whomever buys this truck gets as much enjoyment and fond memories from it as I have had. I added special safety restraints in the far back of the truck for the dog. You can remove them easily if you don"t need them.
I have the bucket seat that goes in the very back, but it is not pictured. It will be supplied to you with the purchase of the truck.
I can help coordinate getting this delivered to your door if you prefer. That is what I have always done when I have purchased vehicles through eBay. As I recall, it cost me about $1,200 to have this truck transported from Florida to Illinois in a closed covered semi truck when I purchased it.
I recommend you read the Wikipedia article on this excellent truck line. I studied this article myself before deciding on this truck vs. a gas powered model like the Tahoe or Suburban. It helped me understand the value of the right diesel engine:

The Excursion line was so popular, Ford is even rumored to be starting a new 2021 production run: https:/ www.drivingline.com/articles/fact-or-fiction-there-will-be-a-2021-excursion/
Let me know if you have any questions. The sale will be final and I am not providing any warranty. My goal is to provide all information you need to make an informed buying decision.
