Vehicle description
I bought this car from Texas and it has never seen a Minnesota winter, spring, or fall. I only drove it from March 1996 (when I titled the car) to August of 2000 (when I parked it) during the summers to carshows and drive ins. This is not a "barn" find. It has been stored in an industrial warehouse for over 20 years. I see no evidence of mice. Just a thick film of dust. It sits as it was parked over 20 years ago. Was repainted once close to the original color. I did not repaint it, but I did have it wet sanded by a body shop and it had a pretty mirror finish (which you can see in the old photos). It now has some surface rust on trim, edges around windows, and on the bumper (see photos) but is completely solid. When it was repainted there appears to be light bodywork on the nose point (see photo). I took a rag to the bumper and brown rust comes off (see photos). Driver’s seat has tears and should be re-covered, the headliner has two small spits. Engine block stamped: K W 583 7K1184446. I did not do any carb work as they ran great the entire time I drove it. This car was regularly showed at the MSRA “Back to the 50’s”shows in the mid to late 90s (1964 is the last eligible year for that event). It was parked in August of 2000. I know the date because I took pictures before(and after) I parked it and still have those pictures in the envelope with the date. It should be obvious which pictures are the ones from the summer of 2000. As is - where is. You will need a trailer. 3 of 4 tires held air for the 20 years, one did not and was ruined sitting flat. Put the spare on (it held air) and the bad tire is in the trunk. Has not turned over in 20 years,no battery, and gas tank will need to be flushed or replaced as you would not want to plug those 2 carburetors with 20 year old gas if there is any in there.Even though it was running fine when it was parked 20 years ago, you cannot work on it here to get it running to drive home. With some serious cleaning and simple mechanical rejuvenation (I would fog the cylinders, turn it over by hand, flush the gas tank and lines, and change the oil) you could be back to the car shows in relatively short order. There are 2+ pallets of first-generation Riviera parts (the Red 1996 Riviera next to it is NOT included in the parts). You don"t have to take all of them, just what you want, and I can get rid of the rest. Or the whole lot. Your choice. Bring boxes and bubble wrap because you might want to wrap some of the items for transport. A lot will fit in the trunk and cabin of the car itself. The engines we should be able to load you with a forklift, which I should be able to arrange. Just be prepared for a lot of stuff if you want it. The air conditioning didn"t blow cold air when I bought it,so I took off the compressor to give me more room to clean up the engine bay.Should still have all the parts and some spares. Also I was buying up other accessories to add to the car and have first generation Riviera AM/FM radio, power antenna, Guide-Matic Autotronic Eye (with complete dashboard and control module), cruise control, rear defroster, two full sets of hubcaps (derby and knock off) and 3 odd WildCat hubcaps, pneumatic trunk release, interior and exterior trim, purse hook (still in original “BUICK engineer approved accessory” packaging), two nailhead engines, books, manuals. . over two pallets of parts. For those of you who are not local: If you arrange for a transporter to come with the appropriate access trailer (as mentioned I cannot drive the car on, or in, a trailer - it would need to be winched in), I would be happy to help them load the car (after payment has cleared). However, I will not be responsible for loading all the parts/engines/etc. I will be there to help, but the buyer must assure everything is packed and loaded the way they want (and bring your own packing supplies). In other words, you MUST to be on-site if you want the parts. I"m sure people have cars picked up and transported all over the country, but all these parts make this another story. I hope you understand the situation and please bid accordingly. I will not coordinate transportation. Payment: bank CASHIER’S check at time of pick up. No trades. No exceptions.
