Complete, looks great, nicely detailed, very distinctive, not just another mustang or camaro :) Runs great, does not smoke or burn oil, handles beautifully, smooth ride, fun to drive. Really turns heads and always draws "nice car" comments. Exhaust has a pleasing burble at idle and powerful tone at cruise, but not annoyingly loud. Heads turn when you go by, it"s got that vintage classic muscle car sound. Quiet enough for cruising, and roars when you step on it. Large-diameter stock Formula "S" crossover & pipes, with Dynomax stainless steel muffler & resonator (#17217 & #24246) and polished stainless steel exhaust tips. Needs nothing, ready to drive & enjoy. Meticulously maintained. It"s not perfect, but after all it is 55 years old. There are minor imperfections on the body such as gasoline discoloration below gas fill cap, and top of passenger fender spot. But nothing that really detracts from this rare beauty.
Engine: Has original engine (273 CID 2bbl V8). This was Chrysler"s workhorse, virtually indestructible with forged pistons rods & crankshaft, and the base for the later 318, 340, 360 engines. Now a Formula "S" clone, goal was reliability/efficiency/performance: - Chrome "Commando 273" air cleaner - Black crinkle-finish & chrome Commando 273 valve covers - Edelbrock Performer intake manifold & 500cfm 4bbl Edelbrock Performer carburetor (carb is an improved version of OE Carter AFB) - Competition Cams Hi-Energy 252 camshaft, pushrods & hydraulic lifter kit, double-roller timing chain & gear set - Valve job, and improved valve stem seals - Clevite Tri-Metal rod & main bearings - Cast iron rings - Electronic ignition distributor, control box & wiring harness from Duster 340 donor; added new MSD 6A control box & MSD Blaster 2 coil - Electronic voltage regulator, alternator & wiring harness from Duster 340 donor - Fan & clutch from Duster 340 donor - Formula S badges on front fenders
Drivetrain: Originally a 3-spd transmission with on-the-column manual shifter, now converted (from Mopar donor cars): - A833 4-spd manual transmission rebuilt with 4th gear overdrive & later-style improved synchros, bell housing, semi-centrifugal clutch, mount, and Mopar/Hurst 4-on-the-floor shifter - HD driveshaft - 8-3/4" 3.55 ratio rear end - Plenty of off-the-line power, and 2,000 rpm at 60mph in 4th OD for cruising
Has been meticulously maintained over the years, using OEM NOS or American-made parts whenever possible: - Fan clutch - Mopar NOS electronic voltage regulator - Alternator - Champion Copper-Plus spark plugs - Accel performance distributor cap & rotor - Mopar blue silicone ignition wires - Fuel pump - Fuel filter - Edelbrock air filter - Water pump - Hoses & fan belt - Thermostat - Radiator pressure cap - Radiator - Master cylinder - Wheel brake cylinders - Valvoline synthetic brake fluid - Brake shoes
Suspension: - Rear leaf springs - Sears radial-tuned low-pressure gas shocks - Ball joints, tie rod ends, link arm (all have grease fittings) - F & R stablilizer bars
Misc: - In-dash AM/FM/Cassette stereo - Cruise control - Sun Super Tach II - Class II hitch
Also included: - Original AM pushbutton radio - Future maintenance spare parts (NOS, OEM, American made), such as F & R brake shoes, master cylinder, water pump, fuel pump, filters - Plymouth factory service manual - Chiltons service manuals - Original 1966 NY license plates - Original dealer demo yellow plastic model car - Ideal Motorific plastic model motorized car - Hurst Hemi-Under-Glass unassembled model kit & display case
