Vehicle description
1999 Shelby Series 1 -
Carroll Shelby, automotive icon and creator of this Shelby Series 1 had a brilliant idea. Mate an Aurora 4.0 Liter V8 created for the Indy Racing League to a state-of-the-art chassis overlaid with carbon fiber and adding in Cobra styling cues and you have the ultimate successor to the Shelby Cobra. To quote Carroll Shelby, "If this doesn"t light your fire, nothing will".
You"re getting #207 of #249 produced in 1999. You"re also getting race car technology with this Series 1. It is equipped with an aluminum chassis that is rigid, tight and with a low stance. This is Cobra style, but with modern technology strategically placed. Coil over shocks make this car unflappable and responsive on any track or road. The IRL inspired Aurora V8 from GM that was used was proven in competition and produces 320 hp. Power is distributed through the German ZF transmission, a 422:1 rear gear and was elevated with the lightweight chassis. Even with a modest 320 hp rating, the power to weight ratio favored a very quick design. .and it moves to the tune of 170 mph top speed! With that stated, the driving experience is light and tight with world class brakes too. Shelby had all the bases covered on this Series 1.
This beautiful example is straight out of a personal collection and has been kept immaculate since new. The silver metallic exterior paint is perfect, and the burgundy mid-stripe is the perfect touch to provide a tip that this car is a serious Super Car. The interior is typical Cobra style and is also in great shape. Understand that only 6,585 miles have been registered and you"ll see why the car looks showroom new. All maintenance has been kept up to date and this Series 1 is definitely "Turn-Key". Nothing is needed. The convertible top is included under the rear retractable cover and all keys, books and records are also provided. The "Series 1" is becoming more difficult to find at the collector auctions. One with this mileage and in concours condition is very difficult to find. The reality is, check the market value. This car is priced $30k - $50K below national collector market value.
