2018 Mini Countryman Countryman Cooper SE ALL4 Hatchback 4D.
Great SUV especially for the times: We have really enjoyed the plugin-hybrid. It allows us to drive day to day on electric only (short trips, grocery store, beach) and avoid the gas station completely allowing the car to charge at our house. When we want to do a longer trip we avoid the delays and headaches of recharging driving on the traditional gas engine. Despite being an SUV the electric motor maintains the fun of driving a MINI/BMW with the torque off the line acceleration being quite enjoyable with the combined 221hp/284 lb-ft between the electric and gas motors. The driving feel and build quality are classic MINI/BMW with solid feel and good driver feedback (with the exception of the brake as mentioned in many reviews). If you are looking for an SUV that is still fun to drive and can fit a family of 3-4 this car is great. The plugin electric provides great gas mileage (average 45mpg for us) along with the torque off the line speed unique to electric motors. The all wheel drive makes it capable in the snow/rain as well.
Recent Inspection at MINI of Marin: Mini Marin Inspection Recent inspection at MINI of Marin showed no issues and good tire and brake life left.
Custom Order Features: We custom ordered and configured the car from the factory so it has two features in particular that are pretty uncommon. The "Lapisluxury Blue" color was phased out in 2019 model year of the S E Countryman ALL4 and we find it to be a gorgeous color. Secondly the rear hatchback door is not automatic. Some people really enjoy the automatic opening hatchback door, we couldn"t stand it we found it slow and prone to failure. With the options configured it is rare because it was $500 extra to avoid the automatic hatchback door since all the other options were in a package. We really didn"t like it.

The Panoramic Sunroof is a longer sunroof that extends over both the front and rear seats. The Privacy Window Glass is factory tinting on all the rear windows and is really nice. The Black Wheels, Black Roof/Mirrors, Offroad Exterior Styling all make for darker accents which was the goal. The Harman/Kardon Sound System is a nice upgrade if you enjoy music.
Warranties: MINI"s Maintenance warranty is 3 years or 36,000 miles so it is valid for another ~14,000 miles and until 2/24/2021 New Vehicle Limited Warranty is 4 years or 50,000 miles so it is valid for another ~28,000 miles and until 2/24/2022 High-Voltage Battery Warranty is 8 years or 80,000 miles so it is valid for another ~58,000 miles and until 2/24/2026 Unlimited Mileage Rust Perforation Limited Warranty is valid until 2/24/2030 Limited Mileage Roadside Assistance Program is valid until 3/31/2022
Blemishes: Overall the car is in good shape, but there is always some wear and tear: 1. There is a 1/2 dime sized door ding lower on the driver side door it can be seen here: Driver door ding zoomed out Driver door ding zoomed in
2. The driver side plastic/chrome headlight surround has a slight bubble where most likely a car wash brush pulled it up slightly when it got caught between the body and the plastic/chrome surround: Headlight surround
These are replaceable and we actually have the black surrounds if you are interested in going the black route, we just hadn"t installed them on the car yet. Could be installed if buyer wishes. Have surrounds for both front and rear headlights. They are MINI authentic parts purchased from a MINI dealer. 3. There is some curb rash on both the front and rear passenger side rims. The front rim is worse than the rear. Due to the black painted factory rims it is more noticeable than if the rims were clear coated: Front: Front Right Wheel Rear: Rear Right Wheel
Tires: The car had BF Goodrich G-Force COMP-2 A/S tires right now, which we find to be a balance of performance/ride/all-season: BF Goodrich G-Force COMP-2 A/S These were installed at 18,604 miles on 12/2/2019 It is notable that these are NOT runflat tires and all modern MINI/BMWs do not have a spare. This means if you get a flat you will need a tow. We have AAA and drive it locally so this isn"t an issue for us. Runflats add cost, make the ride harsher, and if you get even a slow leak/puncture most shops won"t patch the tire due to the liability/risks of runflats catastrophically. We had this happen when we leased an R60. There are BMW spare tires that are compatible: Spare Tire The tire would just sit in the trunk, there is not a designed place for it since it doesn"t come with a spare tire from the factory. Or obviously you can replace the tires.

Overall: The plugin hybrid nature of the car really makes it a unique and fantastic experience. The car is a large "MINI" so a smaller SUV that still has great handling and that pickup and go only found with the electric motor. Avoiding the gas station on a day to day basis while still being able to do a summer road trip is really where the car shines. The MINI/BMW quality shines through in everything about the car and makes it a pleasure to own and drive.
