This is a used 2014 Chevy SS with about 23,000 miles.
The Carfax is clean and the vehicle only had two serious (long-term) owners. Not counting the dealer or myself. (I only have it for a few weeks).
The reason they go fast is because it is literally the best bang for the buck. At $50,000 - $70,000 you"re in a comfortable 4 door sedan and "taking out" M5"s / CTS-V"s. . Which typically cost 100K.
Why I"m selling:
I primarily live overseas and visit the US once per month. I always wanted an SS, so when this one popped up I jumped on it. Thinking I"ll use it as my daily when I"m in the US.
After driving it for a few weeks I realize the following:
-The is NOT a daily driver. This is a true American relic / muscle car that belongs in the garage - to be taken out on the weekend to show off or have some fun.
-It is way too loud to be a daily driver. Since I bought it online, I didn"t come to learn and realize how loud it is until I drove it / started it up for the first time. Whatever Hennessey did, made it significantly louder. Sure, it sounds amazing, but again, not ideal as a daily - unless you"re the type that likes waking up the whole neighborhood every time you drive by. .
-This vehicle eats gas like you cannot believe! Using it as a daily, I"m filling up the tank every other day! Being that it only takes super and the gas pricing are high, expect to pay $75 every other day if you use it as a daily! That is insane. Again. . this is not viable as a daily driver. Locally you get 200 miles to the tank. Highway (without traffic) you"ll get 300.
-This is a hungry monster that just wants to growl and GO at all times. It"s not calm enough to use daily. Especially with a family - which I have.
-It is not ideal for upstate NY roads. This car is super low to the ground (About 4 inches) and can"t even go over some speed bumps without scraping! This is a Florida car, not a mountain car.
-I thought I"ll buy an SS because it"s a sleeper and will go un-noticed. Wrong! Since this is so loud, it turns heads and gets compliments all day. It"s an attention car. Not modest by any stretch of the imagination.
And so. . while this is truly an amazing car and a fun toy, it"s not practical for me or my family. Hence I am listing it for sale. I cannot afford to keep it just as a toy right now.
This car truly is a 4 door Corvette. I think it pushes close to 650 HP and goes from 0-60 in the 3"s. However, you will find it difficult to grab enough traction on local roads to get those times. If it"s anything but super hot out, I"ve spun the wheels in 2nd and 3rd gear on the highway! So you really need perfect conditions to maximize its potential. (Again, not really ideal for upstate NY).
This gem really is an investment piece. Being that they don"t make them anymore and it has low miles, you can drive this once a month for the next 10 years and it"ll either hold its value or go up! The SS"s are becoming more rare and are already considered a collectable.
Condition:
Being that I only had it for a few weeks, I don"t know tons about it. But I"m happy to share what I do know. .
Everything works well. It is near perfect condition. There are a few tiny details that make it less than 100% perfect. For example:
-There is a tiny chip in the windshield. I may have gotten it that way, but because it is so small I didn"t notice it until a week later. It"s so small that I don"t think it will spread. It"s hard to see with the naked eye. But it is something that may have to be addressed at some point.
-The steering wheel leather is torn a little bit. I"m not sure if it"s ware and tare or if someone modified something and did it. It does NOT look like standard ware and tare, but I don"t know - that"s how I got it. I"ll be sure to include pictures.
-There is a faint creaking sound when you turn the wheel while in park/stationary. I had two professional mechanics look into it and both said that they couldn"t find anything wrong. They suggested that it may be related to the modifications or due to it having sat for a while. (They guess it sat for a while because of the low miles). But both of them assured me that it"s benign and there is nothing to fix.
-The paint is near perfect but may have two or 3 tiny imperfections/scrapes/dings.
-Two weeks into driving it the throttle body sensor started making problems. I had it checked by a Chevy dealer and they said that the throttle body looks immaculate. The only suggestion they gave was that maybe Hennessey over cleaned it and sprayed something into it causing the sensor to malfunction. I ended up replacing the entire throttle body.
That"s pretty much all that comes to mind in terms of "negatives". . And of course all of the above is minor.
As for the pros:
It"s a relatively new car (mile wise). It runs and operates phenomenally.
I"m selling this SS - AS IS. The warranty ran out years ago and I cannot guarantee anything. The only thing I can give you is my word that it runs perfectly. Other than the throttle body, I have detected zero issues.
Additions since I got it:
-New Wipers -Installed a $700 Radar -Installed a $250 Dash Cam -Added front tint strip
Spent about $1,000 total.
There is a lien on the vehicle that needs to be paid in full before I can sign over the title normally. So you"ll need to be a bit flexible in terms of deposit and timing. I"m not exactly sure how it works, but once I have a serious buyer I"ll call the loan company and find out how I can sign the title over - granted the loan is paid in full.
You will have to pay your own taxes to register the vehicle in your state. If you cannot pick it up in NY area, you will have to pay extra to have it shipped.
