Vehicle description
ELEVATE YOUR STANDARDS. This low-mileage, 2-owner BMW X3 came fully loaded from the factory, and has seen significant improvements while being babied for an average of 12K miles/year. Contact me for walkaround video and I will send you a link and/or schedule a live Skype, FaceTime, or WhatsApp "tour" with Q&A.
Features Carbon Black paint with Oyster leather interior, a Twin-Scroll Turbo engine and only 97,950 highway miles. Striking, rare contrast between Carbon Black (midnight blue) paint and off-white interior. Exceptionally clean and well-maintained. I have owned and driven it for the last 5.5 years/80K miles, and have all paper service records from Vista BMW in Coconut Creek, FL. Two-owner, Florida car. The bulk of the miles were spent commuting on the Florida Turnpike between Miami Beach and Sunrise for nearly four years.
Car includes a few extras that place it apart from and well above others on the market. From front to back: the front end, to include the bumper, headlights, foglights, front fascia, hood, fenders, mirrors, metal up the A-pillars and above the windshield, door edges, and back bumper, is wrapped in a 3M ClearBra with a lifetime guarantee. This was originally installed when I bought the car in 2015 with 17K miles, but two years ago I noticed some clouding on the hood, so they replaced it for free. It has removable roof racks (with optional wind deflector, see pictures) that come on and off in seconds.
The greatest benefit, IMHO, is indeed the car"s DINAN Stage One kit. This is the complete DINANTRONICS Engine Management System, professionally installed by the BMW dealer at 20K miles and was fully integrated with the factory warranty. This added 60hp and 92 ft/lbs. of torque over stock, bringing those numbers up to 360/392 respectively, with the latter being the more important of the two for practical use.
Originally, the car had noticeable turbo lag, which made it challenging to pass and change lanes on the Florida Autobahn (aka the Turnpike). The DINAN kit eliminated that and now delivers dramatically greater throttle response at low RPM"s. Boost is now instant, swift, and smooth, up to a certain point where the car goes into Warp Drive Mode and I back off the throttle, lest I lose my beloved driver"s license. Seriously, though, when it hits its stride, it will literally sweep the needle past 100 mph and beg for more, which I"ve never given it. (Might be fun for track night, if that"s your thing, but I"ve never done that either.) The DINAN system has a mobile app that allows you to restore it back to factory settings simply by logging in and tapping the "off" button on your phone. Great for valet parking, teenage drivers, or anyone who may find it a bit much. You can turn it back on by clicking "on" the same way you shut it off.
Brakes have been upgraded with drilled and slotted rotors from R1 CONCEPTS for cooler temperatures, noticeably less fade, and less brake dust. (Calipers and other brake hardware remains 100% original, so it"s not like it got the full-blown Brembo upgrade with its prohibitively expensive parts.) R1"s rotors are only $59/each and last a long time without any warpage. I stopped using the BMW dealer"s brake parts when I got tired of the Saharan Dust Clouds their OEM pads tended to create, and haven"t looked back.
This spring, I was unable to outrun and outmaneuver the ever-fearsome and notorious Killer Curb of Coconut Grove - the fastest moving and most aggressive piece of civil engineering this side of Hoover Dam - that attacked the rims on my passenger side. So I had all four reconditioned, rebalanced, and powder coated in Hyper Silver, which I think better matches the light interior plus all the chrome and pale, almost white aluminum on the roof rails and other parts of the car. Originally the rims had more of a grayish hue that not only didn"t match the car well, but also looked particularly crappy when covered in that brake dust I mentioned in the previous paragraph. The Hyper Silver rims have been restored to showroom condition - or better- as I"ve been told (by the guys at the BMW dealership, no less).
Inside, the car is fully loaded with the Premium, Sport Activity, Premium Sound, M Sport, and Technology Packages. This offers every creature comfort you could want, unless you smoke or live somewhere cold. I say that because, as a lifelong non-smoking vehicle, it doesn"t have the Smoker"s Package, and as a Florida car, it doesn"t have the Cold Weather Package, either. Also, it doesn"t have the Driver Assist Package, so please keep you eyes on the road. Still, it has some amazing features like the overhead 360-degree "top down" view camera with parking assist, memory seats, leather, folding mirrors, Auto Hold Braking, and far too many more bells and whistles to list without your eyes glazing over. (Feel free to contact me with specific questions, or look up the original build sheet with my VIN number, above.)
The car runs, drives, and shifts smoothly and beautifully, has no squeaks or rattles, and blows cold AC. Its combination of street manners, performance, cachet, quiet comfort and 360-degree visibility is unmatched by anything in its class. We"ve always used synthetic oil (but of course) and followed the factory recommended service schedule. I have the original owner"s manuals and two keys (which are around $400 each). I"ve always driven new loaners when getting serviced, and it feels as tight as those (only way more powerful). I"ve also driven the new X3M and X3M Competition, which I believe it will keep up with, and probably leave in the dust on a less-than-smooth surface, upon which their drivers could lose their dental fillings, contact lenses, or perhaps just their lunch getting bounced around. Compared to others in its class, few compare. The Porsche Macan Turbo has very little passenger/cargo room and costs three times as much. The Audi SQ5 comes close, but no cigar. And the AMG GLC 43, while evidently spectacular and perhaps the real sweet spot, but didn"t exist when this was made.
The paint, particularly on the front, is like new and shines beautifully. The very front has the 3M ClearBra that I mentioned, so that"s been protected. There is a 1/2" x 2" paint chip on the very top, on the side of the shark fin antenna. If you"re flying a drone or are over 6"6" you can probably see it pretty well, but to the average person, it"s not noticeable. There is one door ding on the left rear door, about the size of my fingertip. Please see the close up photo.
To protect the carpets, it has the original BMW floormats. I"ve always used a seatcover on the driver"s seat, so that"s been protected as well. I"ve also used a cover on the steering wheel, because it protects from the sun, and increases the diameter of the already thick wheel (which I like). Now that that cover"s off, the wheel shows a mild "farmer tan" with some fading on the inner part of the ring, but the outer part looks and feels like new. I have extensive maintenance records going back to its original purchase, along with the original keys, Owner"s Manuals, plus the original jack and tool kit, which I"ve never used.
This has been my exclusive highway, commuter vehicle for nearly six years/80,000 miles. I"d love to keep it and enjoy it for another 100K miles (my BMW service advisor says he"s seen them with 200K+ going strong), but we"re moving to an area without a dealership or expert mechanic. So we"re forced to sell, at some point before the move.
Now, for the fine print: I"ve done my best to disclose all know issues and defects, but I still strongly recommend a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI). You can have WeGoLook or other inspectors come to me anytime (at your expense) during the week of Dec 21-25th, or I can take it to the facility of your choosing in South Florida on Saturday, Dec 26th. I will clear my schedule the day before the auction"s close to take it in for PPI for any serious bidder(s) willing to pay for it. You can call or text me at 786.800.7512 with any questions you may have. CarFax shows one accident, a minor one that I have photos and video of. All repairs were done by Vista BMW"s body shop. I have set an appropriate reserve to reflect the slight drop in value due to that minor incident. Buyer is responsible for shipping, and I am happy to assist in any way I can. I do ask that you choose a reputable shipping firm, as I will not accept responsibility for damage occuring during transit. $500 earnest money deposit is due 48 hours after auction"s end, or I will entertain eBay"s Second Chance Offers (and leave flaming feedback for the auction"s "winner). For non-local buyers, or those not picking up in person, I will ONLY use www.escrow.com, for which I will gladly pay the escrow fees. I wish you the best, and happy bidding!
