Vehicle description
I"m listing my 2012 Nissan LEAF. I LOVE this car! I have a pretty short commute to work and have a Tesla self-powered home (solar panels on the roof) so this car has allowed me to get to and from work with NO costs. No gas, no maintenance (oil charges, etc). I just plug it into the wall outlet in the garage when I get home. As with all electric vehicles, the torque is instant, meaning this car does not feel heavy or slow. It"s very peppy and fun to drive; continuous transmission which means no pause while the car shifts gears, excellent visibility and very good turning radius.
I"m selling for two reasons: one, I"m looking to move to Colorado and I don"t know if I"ll have reliable access to an electrical outlet (might be living in an apartment and parking in a lot). Two, the battery has lost half of its overall capacity. This doesn"t affect the performance, but drastically reduces the range and the cost to replace the battery is more than I paid for the car. I"m hoping that someone will be interested who either has a short commute like I do, or is more able to invest money in the new battery. The battery capacity is supposed to last around 90,000 miles but mine lost half in under 50,000 miles due to the hot conditions and the fact that Nissan didn"t use cooling technology in their first couple of production years.
I tried to include pictures of everything I could think of. I got shots of the charging ports, the front and back seats, outside of the car from a couple of angles and the tires. If you have ANY questions, please contact me. I want to be as up-front as possible and will include any others pics that are requested. This car is being sold AS IS, has no implied warranty, and I am not offering returns. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I will have the car ready for pickup in the driveway. All else is your responsibility.
The Pros: - Perfect driving car (brakes are strong, battery holds charge, drives straight, etc) - Virtually NO maintenance (no spark plugs, no gas, no oil, no coolant, almost no moving parts. Even the transmission requires no lubrication.) - Physically in very good condition (never been in an accident, driven on back roads rarely exceeding 50 mph, no rips in seats, air conditioner blows cold, never been in snow, no rust, etc) - Rare color. I"ve seen a few LEAFs around, but never this cool shade of blue. - Equipped for both standard wall outlet charging and Fast Charge. - CD player and mp3 decoder. - Lots of built in tech like GPS operated by the touch-screen center console. - This was the last year of this body style. The new cars have better battery technology (which you will too once the battery is replaced!) but the styling looks very boring - like every other sedan out there. I prefer the funky look of the original.
The Cons: - Battery has low capacity (Nissan didn"t use self-cooling batteries in the first couple production years of the LEAF. This means that in hot states like FL, AZ, etc, the battery loses its ability to hold a charge much faster than it should. My battery is at half capacity which means a max range of about 40 miles. The battery is expensive to replace. A dealer quoted me just over $10,000. The upside is that this includes all labor and the adapter that allows for an upgraded battery. I read that the new LEAF batteries have around a 300 miles range!) - The tires are very low tread, and the driver"s rear has a slow leak. They will need to be replaced asap.
Also for sale locally! I reserve the right to end the listing early if needed. Two keys are included with this vehicle.
Thanks for looking!
