Vehicle description
I bought this car new in spring 2012 in order to have a car to complete my 50 mile commute to work, as well as to have an enjoyable car for the occasional road trip or joy ride. I planned to put a turbo in it and make some other modifications after paying it off, but I quit my job in summer 2014 and the car has hardly been driven since spring 2015. I put this car through its paces in order to see what it could do, but it"s never been abused. Most of it"s miles are on the highway.
Posted photos are from late 2015, when I had it detailed and made a half-hearted attempt to sell it. It mostly been collecting dust in the garage since then, although I start it up on a regular basis and take it around the block every now and then. New battery installed late 2017.
Using KBB standards, interior is excellent condition, mechanicals are very good condition, and exterior is good condition. I scratched one wheel by cutting a city corner too closely, there are two paint chip spots on the front edge of the hood, and there is a paint blemish that I haven"t been able to remedy, also on the hood. See pics. All maintenance done on schedule at the local Kia dealer. Tire wear is typical for the mileage. Nail removed / tire plugged in 2015 and it"s held up fine.
The 10 year powertrain warranty is still in effect, which is one reason the car still holds value, but overall, it originally offered a lot of bang for the buck, and this is still true today. Check the pic of the original window sticker for the standard features and options.
If you"re not familiar with the Kia Koup, I suggest reading online reviews and checking YouTube in order to find out more. This would be a good car if you"re young and don"t have a kid to stuff in the back seat, or if you want to make a weekend racer out if as I originally planned. But if you"re a parent looking to buy a nice car for your high school or college student, it"s also a good choice. The Koup has plenty of safety features and it performs competently, it"s fun but it"s not dangerously fun, it"s dependable, it gets good gas mileage, and the insurance on it should be very affordable.
