In commemoration of the original number of ZL1 Central Office Production Order (COPO) Camaros made in 1969, Chevrolet relaunched a limited run of 69 COPO Camaros in 2012 as factory drag racing cars designed for NHRA Stock Eliminator and Super Stock classes. This beautiful, never-been-raced, 2012 Chevrolet Camaro COPO is the real-deal - a limited production car that is ready for drag strip action and in brand-new condition. This COPO racer is from a prominent race car collection and is car number 51 out of the mere 69 produced for the 2012 model year, as well as one of the only twenty finished in black. These cars are not street legal and were built by the factory to be drag raced and are set up with the best in drag racing technology. Based on the LSX block, this Camaro features the 327 cubic-inch V8 engine with a Whipple supercharger, 10.2:1 compression, and a fully forged engine package that includes a set of LS7 cylinder heads and special-cut hydraulic camshaft. This high horsepower powerplant was assembled at GM"s Performance Build Center, in Wixom, Michigan, where the LS7 and LS9 production engines for the Corvette Z06 and Corvette ZR1 are built, along with some of the most potent Chevrolet Performance crate engines. To meet strict safety regulations to compete at 9-second quarter-mile times, all COPOs come standard with a solid rear axle, a full chromoly roll cage, removal of sound-deadening and power accessories, two racing bucket seats (no rear seat), a safety harness for the driver, competition floor shifter, Chevrolet Performance gauges, Bogart racing wheels and Hoosier full-slick racing tires. Connected to the Powerglide performance two-speed automatic transmission is a Strange axle stuffed with 4.10 rear gears to assist putting the massive power to the pavement. Also included is a full-on race ready Aeromotive fuel system, lightweight suspension components, line-lock and the NHRA mandated engine cutoff switch.
