Vehicle description
This 2011 Mustang GT is a 2-owner 5 liter coupe with approximately 70k miles (69.9k). An early production S197, it is a well kept car that has spent most of its life in Northern California and was recently relocated to Central Texas. The exterior, still wearing its factory Sterling Grey Metallic finish, remains glossy with only a handful of blemishes. The typical S197 bubbling on the front hood edge is present, as well as some minor rock chips (photos can be found through the link below). Other minor blemishes can be found in the image gallery in the Google Drive link below as well. The interior is smoke free and shows no sign of UV damage or abnormal wear. Seating and carpets present as they should, and all switchgear and buttons retain their factory finish. All of glass is original with no stars or cracks in the windshield (some mild sand blasting can be seen if inspected closely), and all lenses are free of sun discoloration or yellowing. Accessory lights were smoked under previous ownership with the grill mounted driving lights showing some sandblasting (pictured in gallery link), the tail lamps were also replaced under previous ownership with Raxiom Aero LED tail lamps with smoke finish. The Forgestar wheels are straight and free of curb rash or other damage, and new Nitto NT555 G2 performance tires were recently installed (additional recent maintenance services detailed below). *There are no tire pressure sensors installed in the wheels.
The original Coyote 5-liter V8 engine starts without smoke, and shows no sign of abnormal oil consumption or internal engine noise. The OEM gearbox shifts smoothly and deliberately with no sign of synchro wear, although the typical 2nd, 3rd, 4th gear whine is present (sharp edged gears make noise). Inspection of the timing chain and valve-train through the oil cap shows no residue or buildup. The only engine lubricants used during current ownership have been Mobil 1 or Royal Purple Synthetic oils. The ECM was flashed under previous ownership, but no external controller is present.
Maintenance services performed in the past 12 months include: New Nitto NT555 G2 tires, New Cryogenic treated front brake rotors and Hawk "Blue" brake pads (from The Tire Rack), New Duralast Battery, New Rear Axle Seals, Redline MTL Rear Diff Fluid, New Clutch Master and Slave Cylinders, Brake Fluid Flush, and lastly an oil change was performed in October 2021 with Mobile 1 5w20.
Upgrades and modifications are as follows: Boss 302 Intake Manifold JLT Cold Air intake 3.73 rear differential with limited slip Ford Motorsports short headers Offroad (no cats) X-pipe Lightweight Billet Flywheel Exedy 800ft/lb Clutch Koni Adjustable Shocks w/Ground Control Springs Forgestar Forged Wheels 20"x10" F 20"x12" R Nitto NT555 G2 tyres - 255/35/20 F & 305/30/20 R, Hawk "Blue" Brake Pads and Cryogenic Treated Rotors (fronts replaced 9/21) ECM flash
Overall this is a very well sorted S197 GT coupe that has had all of the factory shortcomings addressed. It drives as it should have driven from the factory. The handling is sharp and predictable; the already excellent Coyote powered drivetrain has been woken up with better breathing components, proper ECM programming and decreased rotational mass; and the brakes bite and stop much better than the optional Brembo system without the added unsprung or rotational weight of the larger/heavier calipers and rotors. The vehicle has always been a southern or California vehicle, so corrosion and winter weather deterioration is a non-issue. Paint is original from the factory and the car has no accident history as confirmed by the CARFAX.
