Vehicle description
I was the SRT Motorsports Engine Group Manager from 2010 - 2015, (Motorsports Engineering Specialist from 1999 - 2015). I was lucky to head up the group when Brad Keselowski won NASCAR Championships (2010 Nationwide and 2012 Cup), Allen Johnson and Jeg Coughlin Jr. won back-to-back NHRA Pro Stock titles (2012/2013), and Cameron Lawrence won the SCCA TA2 Championship (2013). So I am the closest thing to a modern day "Tom Hoover", whom I was friends with. So this is your chance to own an un-molested Challenger with some Factory ownership history.
This Challenger R/T is a very rare Detonator Yellow 6 speed manual with Track Pak. I bought the car to drop in an all Aluminum 426 Gen 3 Hemi. However, Mopar decided to do a 426 Hemi for the 2015 Drag Pak, and I headed up the design/development of that project. So I essentially got to satisfy my desire to "build" a car as part of my job. The 2015 Drag Pak turned out exceptionally well, and our SRT Motorsports mule engine was used on 10/11/15 by Ray Barton Racing to set the NHRA FSB record at 8.54 seconds @ 157.01 mph, at Maple Grove Raceway.
In the mean time, my 2010 Challenger saw very limited usage, (I was too busy with my job at SRT Motorsports Engineering). It has been in the garage covered with a Mopar car cover. NEVER in the snow, only caught in the rain with it twice. In 2015 after we launched the Drag Pak, I left Motorsports (FREC) and took a job in Advanced Powertrain. I wanted to get back to CTC, (Motorsports was out of sight, out of mind from Powertrain), and add some fuel saving technologies to my resume before I retired. I sat along side the SRT Production Powertrain group, so became involved with their future projects as well, (note: SRT Motorsports and Production Powertrain are completely separate groups, with different Directors.)
I retired from FCA (now Stellantis) in 2020. After two weeks at home I decided that going from Engineering to my Wife"s Errand Boy was too much of a demotion, so I started Motorsports Engineering, LLC. I have been working on aircraft and race engines as a Consultant since.
However, you probably want to hear more about the 2010 Challenger I am selling. .it is completely stock. The only thing(s) I have done to it is replace the battery with a direct Mopar unit, and change the oil @ 6171 miles, 5W-30 Mobil 1 oil and MO-899 Mopar oil filter.
Performance Features: 5.7L Hemi Eagle with VVT, (no MDS), 6-speed manual transmission, 3.92 final drive ratio with anti-spin differential, 4 wheel anti-lock disk brakes, Goodyear 245/45VR20 BSW all season tires on 20" x 8" R/T aluminum wheels, performance steering and suspension, 160 mph speedometer and tach, bright accel/brake/clutch pedals, and functional hood scoop.
Interior Features: Dark slate grey leather interior, heated seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror with microphone, Uconnect phone with voice command, power outlet and iPod control, Sun visors with illuminated vanity mirrors, Overhead console with universal garage door opener and sunglass case, front power windows w/one touch down, 60/40 folding rear seat, temperature and compass gauge, interior appearance group by Mopar (bright door sills, premimum floor mats with Challenger script logo, and Mopar car cover).
Stereo: Sirius satellite radio, 276 Watt amplifier with 6 Boston Acoustics speakers, CD player, steering wheel mounted audio controls.
Comfort Features: Leather interior, power 8-way Driver"s seat, manual lumbar for the Driver and front Passenger, Push button start/keyless go, air conditioning, cruise control, speed sensitive power locks, illuminated entry, power trunk lid release, variable intermittent wipers, rear window defroster, center console with storage.
Safety Features: Front multistage and supplemental side-curtain front and rear air bags, electronic stability program, all-speed traction control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring system, remote keyless entry and security alarm.
Other: 19 gallon fuel tank, power heated mirrors, R/T badging and black body side stripes.
Notes: There is one stone chip in the paint, at the base of the rear spoiler. (See last photo) The car makes great sounds, although some people may find the rear end coast noise to be louder than expected. I would not call it a "fast" car, because most other Pony cars are smaller/lighter, but it is a nice cruiser and the back seat is big enough for adults. The tires are original, still have excellent tread depth, but should be replaced at some time due to their age, (car has been in garage under cover, so minimal sun light exposure). When I did drive the car to work, it was in the underground parking lot at CTC. So the car has had very little sun exposure. The car is as nice and clean as you will find, with a rare color and ownership. It drives very well.
Note payment is by ESCROW.com or cash. Not accepting Cashier"s checks, money orders, or personal checks.
