This 2009 GT500KR is #570 of a production run of 712 vehicles, and is one of only 236 ebony black vehicles with satin black stripes. The Shelby GT500KR or "King of the Road" versions were originally produced in 1968, then again 40 years later in 2008 and 2009. The 2008 and 2009 KRs were born as Ford-produced Shelby GT500s in Flat Rock, Michigan then shipped to Shelby"s facility in Las Vegas, Nevada where they received a 540-horsepower, supercharged 5.4-liter V-8 engine, with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Package supplying an extra 40 horses from the standard GT500. A Ford Racing Handling Package was also added that included revised springs, adjustable dampers, beefier stabilizer bars and a strut tower brace. The addition of 3:73 rear gears, short-throw shifter, plus KR-specific exterior treatments such as unique 18" wheels and Goodyear tires, a special composite hood with hood pins and unique Shelby stripes and badging sets the KR apart from the GT500.
