Vehicle description
So you want all the fun, handling and drive on any surface ability of an STI, but you want your father-in-law or girl friend"s father to take you seriously. I have exactly what you need!
Subaru took a Subaru Legacy GT with the EJ255 turbo 2.5 liter engine, and added the 6 speed manual and the inverted strut suspension from the WRX STI cars.
So by now you"ve glanced over and noticed that WOW, this thing has 240,000 miles on it! It may be the highest mileage spec.b in the world. Okay, maybe that isn"t all that great when talking about a car. So here are the answers to some of your questions about a car with such high mileage.
Yes, a lot of that is highway mileage. You don"t put that kind of mileage on a vehicle in 9 years without most of it being highway. The car doesn"t have a perfect body, it has some minor hail damage on the roof and a few dings and scrapes. It still the original engine, never rebuilt. It has been maintained well and runs strong. It does burn oil like most turbo boxer engines. Turbo replaced at 150,000 miles Timing belt replaced a second time at 220,000 miles Valve cover gaskets replace at 220,000 miles for leaking oil, unfortunately the oil leak re-appeared recently, though not as heavy. Spark plugs replaced at 220,000 miles Over the past 5 years I"ve owned it, I"ve replaced the oil every 5,000 miles with Rotella T6 and OEM oil filters per bobistheoilguy.com recomendations. I have 5 or 6 oil filters in my garage that will come with the car. Radiator replaced at 221,000 miles All 4 wheel hubs replaced at different points over the past 4 years.
So while most of these miles were for business on the highway, anyone who owns a car like this and says it was always babied and never driven hard is a liar. I didn"t drive it like I stole it, but I certainly drove it hard from time to time and it still runs like a champ after all those miles. I autocrossed it 3 times over the past 5 years I"ve owned it. Along the way as things needed to be addressed, repaired, or I just wanted to improve something, I added a few aftermarket items. Nav system address entry while moving enabled. Latest available maps for the Nav (updated in 2015) Kinivo Bluetooth phone system adding hands free calling and audio to the car. Sony Xplode 600W amp in spare tire well. Kicker 10" sub in custom enclosure. 2" hitch that I used for attaching a bike rack. (no wiring for a trailer) Perelli P-Zero Nero 215/45/18 tires on all four corners with decent tread left Tien H (P/N: SKS70-BUB00) 1" drop springs on all four corners ¾" spacer on rear struts to correct butt sag. Whiteline (P/N: KCA313) Front roll center adjustment kit Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear sway bar StopTech (P/Ns: 950.47005 & 950.47505) Stainless Steel brake lines on all four corners Cobb tuning performance catted down pipe Stage 1 91 octane tune Tectrix cable
So why am I getting rid of this vehicle after so much fun and love has gone into it? It was time for me to grow up a bit more. I"m using my vehicle for clients and business more and needed something a little more professional. Also, twin turbos on a V8 are intoxicating. My new ride is an Audi S6 and I don"t need this car around any longer. But I"m sure someone can give it a good home and enjoy it for years to come.
This car comes pretty loaded with:
Navigation Climate control Heated Seats Power seats with 2 position memory Windshield wiper defroster Steering wheel audio controls 3 drive settings (Intelligent, sport, and sport sharp) Leather seats with alcantara inserts Garage door openers in the mirror
One last note. The engine work while I owned it was done by the most reputable Subaru shop in the area, Ecotech.
