Vehicle description
KBB puts it at $7500 but this auction is NO RESERVE!
This is a FULLY LOADED Lexus 2008 IS 350. If you want a high mileage car(read: as cheap as you can get it), with TONS of features, strong mechanicals, a plush leather interior, RWD + 300 horses, WITH lexus reliability, this is it. It has Navigation, bluetooth, heated/cooled front seats, Backup camera, Parking sensors, motorized sunshade, HID lights, you name it, this car came with it. It must have come with one of those "luxury" or "premium" packages that just dumps a bunch of features into it, because it has so many useless features I don"t know what to do with them. It has literal spouts near the headlights where water squirts out.
TWO sets of wheels/tires . I switch them out for winter. I have the 18" premium lexus rims with summer tires on them and TPS sensors (currently off the car, haven"t bothered to switch yet because I like the other set) Or you can use the cushier set with all season tires that I run in the winter. The summer tires are pretty new, only used for 6 months. All season tires have been used for 18 months or so.
I"m the 2nd owner, 1st owner used it for sales work and drove it 120k miles in only 6 years. I bought it and drove it another 60k to and from work in jersey for 7 years, with no major repairs, 0 accidents. I"ve only put synthetic into it, and premium gas.
MECHANICAL - AMAZING: The only thing I"ve had to replace was the shocks/struts about 40k miles ago. The exhaust has a hole in it but it still passes inspections so I"ve ignored it. It doesn"t sound obnoxious luckily. It"s a Lexus - cheapest car I"ve ever owned. After this car I will never buy another brand.
I"ve NEVER had an engine issue. I had some weird transmission hiccups so I replaced the transmission oil at 150k miles and haven"t had an issue since. (it had never been replaced, go figure)The car pulls STRONG with 300 horsepower, and the steering is tight. Suspension is fairly sporty as you"d expect from a RWD sports car. Car rides slightly low so don"t go over 20 mph over speed bumps you animal.
ELECTRICAL - GOOD: The touchscreen doesn"t work, unfortunately. It displays fine when you press buttons but you can"t touch it. Luckily however - no one uses a 12 year old navigation system. It"s nice to look at to see nearby streets when you"re cruising in the city, but other than that who doesn"t use their phone these days? The climate control, audio control etc. all have tons of buttons and work fine that way, so I"ve never even gotten a quote to fix the touchscreen.
The important stuff DOES work however. Back up camera, audio system with AUX, etc. all are fine. Sound system is loud and really good. The auto-focusing system (AFS) doesn"t work. It turns your headlights as you turn the wheel. I don"t even understand why they made this feature.
APPEARANCE - GREAT: I just got it detailed so it looks fantastic. Inside there are some scuffs and some minor stains in the lighter colored areas, but since its mostly black you can"t really see anything else. I removed the "lexus" and the "is 350" letters on the back but I still have them, you can get them glued back on for $20.
NO accidents while I"ve owned it. You can see from the photos that it has scuffs/scratches, maybe some small dings, but no real damage that can"t be fixed by an auto body shop for a few bucks. Wheels have some minor curb rash as you can see from the photos. The interior is in good condition EXCEPT the front two seats have the stitching ripped. NOT the leather. The leather is solid. The stitching however is ripped. Luckily that means you can just get someone (or do it yourself) to stitch it back together for $100.
Honestly, I would keep it and run it into the ground if I didn"t need an SUV for my work right now. It"s a good car that will last another 50-70k miles without major repairs. It"s got a great interior, good exterior, and the engine is strong.
