Vehicle description
2008 Hummer H3 - PROJECT I"ve listed this truck as a project because it needs a timing chain.
Backing up for a second, many more photos may be found here: https:/ www.flickr.com/photos/9664377@N05/albums/72157711405144547 The overall condition of the vehicle is quite good. The paint has a scuff or two, and the rear fender flares have there share of stippling from stones thrown up. But there are no significant scratches. Nor is there a single ding. Likewise the interior is in pretty decent shape. I"ve owned the truck since 2009. It was purchased from Suburban Hummer in Troy, MI. I"ve hauled everything in it. Bicycles, building materials, etc. The cargo area reflects this, but as mentioned the rest of the interior looks pretty good. There are no tears whatsoever in the leather, an everything in the interior works.
As for the power train, the truck has had a rough idle for a while. Off idle it ran fine. There was a crack in the exhaust manifold, so i thought maybe the rough idle was emissions related. I replaced the exhaust manifold with an aftermarket unit along with the O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor, coils, and some other misc parts. The rough idle remained, so I had my local Autozone run a diagnostic. It idicated that the exhaust cam timing was off. I replaced the cam phaser solenoid, but this didn"t fix the idle either. At this point I suspected a worn out timing chain. This was confirmed by the dealership (Suburban), with an estimate to fix it in the region of $6000. It also needs four tires. The spare now several years old, but unused.
It"s been a really great truck, this being the first time it"s failed me. I"m not willing to spend that to repair it, and I just don"t have the time to fix it myself.
I think that about covers it, but if you"ve any specific questions, please ask.
