This is not one of the DURAMAX coversions just built - we have put almost 80k on it since the conversion. Very reliable, comfortable head turning vehicle. 2006 Cadillac Escalade ESV Platimum Duramax 2500HD - "CadiMAX". Drivetrain donor was a 2007 LBZ Duramax/Allison and 2001 Yukon Denali XL 2500 offered up the 3/4T frame. This ESV is the Platinum edition with all extra options offered for the 2006 model year. It is a different interior and sound system than a base Escalade. Heated/Cooled seats, Dual overhead monitors, cloth pillars, etc - just a step above the "Base Sport Escalade"
We have had the gas version of the vehicle since 2013 and it was 90k miles old. We have 5 kids and the interior has surprisingly held up well, but it it does have about 275k now on the interior/exterior and it is 15 years old and as such has that typical wear. It just so happened that the conversion took place when both vehicles had roughly 195k, so the mileage on the odometer (which is the Duramax cluster) matches up closely with the body and chassis.
The truck is capable to easily pull 12,000 pounds or more. These SUV Duramax conversions are a dream to drive - we own 3. They ride great and will get you way better fuel mileage than the 6.0 gasser these come with - not to mention with the EFILive 5 position settings, Air Dog lift pump, you can dial down for economy or crank it up to leave Corvettes in your rear view mirror. If you have never driven a tuned LBZ or other Duramax, you do not know what you are missing!
With 2-Speed Hi/Low range NP263XHD transfer case, 20" KMC XD Series Badland wheels wrapped in Nitto Terra Grappler G2"s, this truck not only looks good, but off-roads with the best. It has made almost all the 4x4 only national parks roads in the Rio Grande National Forest with out issue. It has hauled broke down Polaris, Jeeps, Buggies in/out of those roads when they could not make it - sometime on a trailer in tow. Look up the Wheeler Geologic Area 4x4 trail up in Colorado and this Escalade has been there and many other places up in the mountains.
Be confident in this buy - there are maybe a handful of these in the world. Seriously - do some research, there are 3 2002-2006 ESV"s that I know of that have had a LBZ/Duramax Conversion and a few others in the 2007/LMM and up body style. Lots of people building Duramax Suburbans/Yukon XL"s, but very few of the Escalade ESV"s. It is one in a rare and unique club of vehicles for sure that are some of the most versatile and capable SUV"s on the planet. Don"t ask me - ask anyone that owns a Duramax Suburban or Yukon XL. And don"t wait around for the "mini-max" 6 cylinder Duramax due out in the 2021 SUV"s that will cost you upwards of $80-100k and not boast a full blown 3/4 ton chassis with the torque and hauling capabilities this one has.
