Vehicle description

2006 Jeep Liberty 2WD with cop accessories. This had been a security vehicle of some type, unknown if mall security or actual 5-oh. As much as I like "Blues Brothers" and Dan Akroyd"s description to John Belushi about why he chose a cop car as their post-prison replacement car, this does not seem to have a cop motor, nor a 440 cubic inch plant, nor does it have cop tires, cop suspensions, or cop shocks.(Yes, it has a catalytic converter, for those following along with the 1980 movie quote)
It does have "Push off" Rhino bars in the front bumper, a spotlight on driver"s side window (Works, but with a worn swivel gear) and you can see where the top lights had been mounted and where some cop-type gear had been secured in the back (Fire Extinguisher holder, etc) and dashboard where you can see where the microphone mount screws went. The interior lamp also has a "red" setting, which is great if you want to fill out paperwork or pour your coffee at night while still keeping your night vision for the stakeout.
Pros - Frequently, people assume that I"m undercover cop and I NEVER get cut off in traffic and if I ever flash the spotlight, folks tend to be extra-polite. One night, someone was mad because I honked when he didn"t pull out at a green (after the traditional 3 Mississippi count, duh, I"m not a jerk beeping the moment it turns green) and he started to get out looking to yell at me or worse, and I turned on the spotlight and aimed it at his license plate, he waved nicely and smiled and mouthed an "I"m sorry" and drove away. Would be a good vehicle for teen drivers for that reason.
CONS - People tend to drive slower around me on the highway. If you live in an area where, um, the police might be viewed in a less-than-favorable light, or if there"s #ACAB graffiti in your block, um, this might not be your car. People will think its a cop car, for better or worse.
It has high mileage, but has been running great for me for 8 years, with new 2019 tires, 2018 shocks/struts, 2017 starter/alternator/battery and a 2016 differential. I tended to get it inspected at same time as June beach trip and picked one major (~$500) repair to do each year. At this mileage, I use the high-mileage motor oil and change it every 3k miles. Gets ~18 mpg on highway. Cold AC, Hot heater. Radio works, good glass, all windows work. Shallow dent in back door (see photo). Interior is OK, some wear on driver"s seat as if someone had entered and exited the vehicle a 1000 times a week like a cop would do.
I"ve got it parked in Alexandria, VA if you"d like to test, but I"m not a car lot, just upgrading to a newer jeep, so I don"t want to show it to un-serious buyers.
