2006 Chevy Malibu LT 3.5L V6 automatic transmission with 55,277 miles. Brakes don"t work and the air conditioning leaks refrigerant. I bought this new, have been the only owner, and drove it regularly until the brakes stopped working. It has not been in an accident. Car has been in Chicago for 9 years and Texas for 7 years.
Recently, the BRAKE warning light has stayed on, and the BRAKE FLUID and LOW COOLANT messages have displayed on the DIC. No other warning lights or messages displayed in the past few years.
BRAKE, BRAKE FLUID - The brakes barely stop the car when pressed all the way. Fluid is leaking down the right rear tire. LOW COOLANT - This appears when starting the engine cold and goes away after the engine warms up. The level of coolant in the reservoir is below the full line. I believe this is because of evaporation and not a leak. The coolant should be changed.
The air conditioning system started leaking over the 2019-2020 winter. It last ran in September 2021, blowed cold air, but needed a top-up every week. I used a 4-valve manifold gauge and vacuum pump, only added auto refrigrant, and never added any kind of stop-leak. I haven"t looked for the source of the leak.
Turn signal auto-cancel does not function.
Door chimes, warning chimes, and turn signal clicking sounds usually can not be heard. Occasionally they come back briefly.
The tires have tread left but are 10 years old. Date code is 4911.
Battery is 7+ years old and starts the engine in near freezing temperatures.
Oil was changed regularly, usually because of age rather than miles. Oil level has always stayed full between changes and never needed a top-up.
Transmission fluid was last changed in 2016.
There are no other leak spots under the car"s usual parking spot, only the leak at the right rear tire.
Two dents on the hood from a falling tree branch. One dent on the driver"s door from a falling board of lumber. Scrapes on the rear bumper on the left side from maybe other vehicles bumping it. Small hole in the front bumper from a screwdriver getting stuck in at 65 MPH. Tears on the fabric of both rear interior doors from transporting a desk. Spots on the passenger seat near the center console. No cleaning attempted. Drivers seat is dirtier than the others. No cleaning attempted.
All windows are intact with no cracks, chips, or scratches. All power windows and power locks work. Electric trunk release works. Cruise control works. Stereo works. CD player not tested.
Includes two keys, two working keyfobs, and owners manual. Keyfobs have a working remote start function. Car has a trailer hitch and wiring harness.
Clean TX title. Title has an old TX address. Car must be towed at buyer"s expense from a curb on a residential street in 78233.
