Vehicle description

THE GOOD: Original owner with title in hand. Registered, smogged, insured. Rare turbo/manual transmission car with sun/moon roof Straight body for its age Homelink compass mirror Tuning Technologies in Colton, Calif. professionally installed VF39 STI turbocharger, STI fuel pump, STI pink fuel injectors, and custom dynamometer tuning when turbo started to go at 118,770 miles in 2015. Have paperwork and dyno sheet. Passenger airbag replaced under recall Fuel-pump housing replaced under recall Has factory roof racks (currently off car) Passed smog in March 2019 Have orig. window sticker Oil changed regularly by me (mostly using Rotella T6 Synthetic). Also have six pages of notes of ALL service I did or had done, no matter how big or small. AFTERMARKET/NOT-STOCK: Custom cat-back two-chamber Flowmaster muffler exhaust (nice Boxer rumble) RalliTek front skid plate Duralast Platinum battery Koyo aluminum radiator and cap Method 15” rally wheels with Yokohama Geolander A/T-S tires Gorilla mud guards Aftermarket touch-screen radio (kept original 5-CD stereo) Kart Boy oil cap Fumoto oil drain valve for quick oil changes Gorilla mud flaps De-badged in rear, but kept all emblems SubieWorks in Murrieta, Calif. installed a Grimmspeed ceramic uppipe in 2016 Comes with a brand-new flat hood, brand-new STI scoop, and brand-new STI splitter (never installed) Added factory boost gauge and factory underseat subwoofer THE BAD: Rear seat release knob broke on one side (rear seat still folds down). Moon roof sometimes get stuck in the open position, so you have to fiddle with the switch until it closes. SUSPECT HEADGASKET ISSUE!: Runs and drives strong, but you can smell the smell of burnt coolant after car is shut off. Doesn’t overheat with regular driving, but… on hot summer days, after about 15-20 minutes of blasting the A/C, temperature will creep up. Immediately drops back down after shutting off A/C and/or blasting heater. I have never let it climb above ¾ hot, and I’m not going to tempt fate. Same issue going uphill in the mountains (high altitude) WITHOUT A/C on. I don’t want to make the issue worse by driving it, so I keep my trips in it to a minimum and have since bought another car since I have a family and need both the reliability and the auto so the wife can drive. There is also evidence of coolant on the reservoir overflow hoses as the hoses are white in color around that area, further suspecting it’s the head gasket, but I"m not a professional mechanic. Recommend you bring someone that knows Subarus to check it out. I"m only diagnosing based on google searches. …AND THE UGLY: Paint looks its age. Interior is getting ratty (front upper door panels, driver’s seat mainly). Small dent on right front fender. Small scratch on outside back window from a mountain bike handlebar that was in the bed Front seats have tears I tried to STI stencil paint the STI intercooler logo, but there’s overspray. I am an honest person, but I"m only human. Please ask any/all question ahead of time.
