Vehicle description
The Hemi GTX package was a limited sport-truck version of the Ram. Introduced in 2004 and only made in 2004 and 2005, these were customized by LA West of Indiana as ordered from dealers. It was available on regular cab/short-box and quad cab/short-box and 2x4 and 4x4model pickups and included a custom overall paint from Mopar"s Impact colors from the 1970s (This included Hemi Orange, Plum Crazy Purple, Sublime Green, and Banana Yellow). 20" American Racing Motto chrome wheels, a new cowl "blacked out" hood, and a specially trimmed leather 2-tone interior including a serialized number plate on the driver"s side door jamb were offered. On the sides was a "hockey stick" stripe with "GTXtreme" that extended from the hood to the rear of the box. The air box was also painted to match the body color, and a color matched steering wheel was added as well. They were only 433 produced in 2004 and roughly the same amount in2005. Only 7 green quadcabs were made, 9orange quad cab, and 4 purple quad cab or so I"m told. I"ve recently replaced exhaust and tips (muffler was vibrating) and it has a nice throaty sound. New battery and I also had the windshield replaced due to a star chip and they did a beautiful job. new Bosch wipers last week. Last year I had all of the stripes replaced professionally by Signature Graphics so no dead vinyl on the truck. I have a nice T-Strap bra for the hood, and I"ve also recently replaced the driver"s seat bottom foam and replaced the troublesome nylon power seat drive gears with brass versions out of Germany. I"ve taken very good care of the truck as the pix will show. Remember it"s 17 years old now. Not quite perfect, but pretty damn close. Oh yes, it has a set of Firestone Airbags on the rear with a Firestone on board inflator pump. I always thought it looked better with just a bit of rake to it. I also installed some T/A Challenger chin spoilers- once again I liked the look. There is a recall open on the passenger side airbag inflator, I"ve just not taken it in because I don"t trust the local dealer to not booger up the dash. The carpet on the dash is NOT covering up any cracks, I just wanted a cover to reduce UV issues here in Florida. I have a full vehicle cover I will also provide with the truck when it sells. I"m 64, so I"ve enjoyed the truck and knew how to take care of it. 2000 mile oil changes are the norm, most miles were accrued driving from here in Pensacola to St. Louis area (my hometown), so lots of highway miles. I"m a service director by profession, so I"ve been a strong believer in maintenance. 5w30 Valvoline synthetic has been my oil of choice, along with a quart of Duralube at most oil changes. Transmission was serviced by Lou Fusz Dodge in O"fallon Missouri at about 15k just to be safe. I"m selling because I have a new Ford Maverick on order, it will tow nicely behind my motorhome, I just didn"t want to tow this one considering the price of gas these days. The motorhome is a gas hog anyway. Some one asked, yes I did install cross drilled rotors and carbon fiber pads on it, maybe 15000 miles ago. I took the wheels off to paint the calipers and just decided to replace them at the same time. I like cool stuff. I"m also one of those that parks away from everyone, so no door dings either!
