Vehicle description

This 2004 Pontiac GTO Coupe was one of the first pre-orders in 12/2003 and has been owned by the same family since new. It arrived in July 2004, lived in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Denver (never driven in snow) so there is no rust anywhere. It has tons of paperwork and lots of new parts. These cars were loaded from the factory and the only ordering choices were interior / exterior color and manual or automatic. The power windows / locks / AC / cruise all worked last time I had it out. Keyless entry works great. Always adult owned, never on the track, drag raced or abused. Please read the entire description carefully and look closely at high resolution images provided.
The LS1 engine sounds like it is going bad. The engine is completely stock and has not been looked at. It could be a simple fix or catastrophic, I can"t tell you either way. This is your chance to own a desirable, rare car for CHEAP! Tons of options for LS-x based powerplants and the opportunity to make it what you want from a mean street machine to a dedicated drag car. These cars are fun to drive, get compliments whenever they"re out and stand out from all the Mustang / Camaro / Challengers on the road. If you like to do your own work, this could be a great start to a budget build with LOTS of payoff.
Please ask any questions BEFORE bidding. Serious offers welcome, lowballs will be ignored.

The Good: New Firestone Firehawk Z Rated Performance Tires New KYB Shocks / Struts / Mounts New Cold Case All Aluminum Radiator, All New Rubber Hoses and New Water Pump & Thermostat Nice Interior - bolsters are good, carpet is clean, original floor mats in trunk, no cracks on the dash, back seats as new, etc. New Transmission / Drive Shaft / Carrier Bearing Dynatech Stainless Steel Headers Diablo Sport Predator Tuner K&N Intake Huge stack of paperwork since new including order sheet, window sticker, brochure, letter from the CEO of Pontiac and service history Straight body, good glass, nice paint (except for clearcoat on the roof) Aftermarket Halo LED headlights & Monaro VXR tail lights TSW rims
The Bad: * *Engine is making noise and will likely need rebuilt or replaced. It currently starts, runs and makes good power but there is clearly something wrong that will need addressed before the car can be driven.* * Clearcoat is faded on the roof & peeling on the mirrors & filler cap cover (gas door) Drivers seat has a split in the leather and the seat belt is stuck in one position One of the wires for the body control module has a short (common for these cars, I haven"t taken the glove box out to chase it down) Tint is starting to bubble
The Story: I picked this car up from my sister in 2016 with a bad transmission. I had a new one (Jasper) professionally installed along with the drive shaft carrier bearing, shocks / struts, and some misc. items that needed attention. Over the last few years I drove it sparingly and noticed the tires were dry rotted in 2019 so they were replaced with Firestone Firehawk Z-rated summer tires. COVID came along and I let the car sit for most of 2020. It developed a water pump leak this year and I decided to overhaul the cooling system with a new all aluminum Cold Case radiator, new water pump, thermostat and all new rubber hoses. After getting everything installed and starting the car I noticed a grinding sound coming from the engine, which I thought was a stuck A/C compressor clutch at first. Upon further investigation, it seems that the noise is coming from inside the engine. The engine still starts, runs and makes power but the sound is bad and it has not been started or driven since discovery of the issue.
